The Star Gazer

For Shaw Families {118-11/12}

Our Shop with a Cop fundraiser was a huge success! We raised $920 for this great cause in just 3 days. Congrats to Britni from Mrs. Harriman's class for being our winner of lunch with Officer Ross! Thank you to everyone who contributed!!

The Washington and Benton County Health Departments are now offering COVID vaccines for 5-11 year olds. There is a clinic tomorrow morning from 8-12 at the Washington County Health Dept. Walk-ins are always welcome too!

Hat Day for United Way

Friday, November 12th we will have a special Hat Day to support United Way! Did you know that the UW of NWA granted Springdale Schools over $100,000 last year? We were able to have an amazing summer school thanks to these grants. Students can bring $1 and wear a hat all day.

Test to Stay:

Springdale is piloting a new Test to Stay program with the support of Governor Hutchinson. If your child is identified as a Probable Close Contact, meaning he/she was within 3 feet of a positive case for more than 15 minutes, you now will have options to choose from. If both students were wearing masks, this does not apply and no quarantine is necessary.

Option 1: Your student would be quarantined at home for 7 days and could return on the 8th day if they are not showing any symptoms.

Option 2: Test to Stay- Your child could remain at school and wear a mask at all times (except lunch and recess). Your child would be tested by Nurse Teena each morning using a nose swab. As long as your child remains negative, he or she would not miss school. The nose swabs are minimally invasive, unlike the first COVID tests that some of you may remember. Only a small portion goes into the nose. If you choose this option, you will need to sign a form in the office. Nurse Teena would only contact you if your child's test indicates a positive.

Upcoming Dates:

November 11th- Veteran's Day 8:15 am (reception beforehand)

November 15th- Spelling Bee for 3rd-5th grade participants

November 22-26 Thanksgiving Break
