Kerr Happenings

October 20, 2022

Kerr families,

It's hard to believe it, but one quarter of the year is complete. Activities are certainly in full swing on campus with fine arts productions, homecoming festivities, and club meetings most days after school. We hope that everyone finds an event to attend and experience some of the amazing talent and spirit that we have on campus.

As always, please reach out if you need any assistance or have any questions.

Mr. Lewis and Ms. Tones

Campus Reminders

The first bell of the school day is at 7:10 and all students should be in their center by 7:15. We highly encourage entering and exiting the Kerr parking lot using the Beechnut entrance in the mornings to avoid the high traffic congestion on Howell Sugarland.

Students that need to leave during the school day must be signed out in the front office and exit through the front doors of the building. All other entrances to the building are locked during the school day.

IDs must be worn by everyone on campus at all times and all visitors must report to the front office to receive a visitor's badge before visiting areas of the building.

Term 1 Final Grades

Term 1 grades have been transcribed and are now viewable in your Home Access account. A final grade of 70 or higher is needed to earn credit in a course. If students were successful in all of their classes this term they have now earned a total of 2 credits toward graduation.

Teacher names are included on the report card and you are encouraged to reach out to them directly if you have any questions about your student's progress in their courses or you can contact your student's advisor and they will connect you with the right person.

All students and parents have a Home Access account where all student records can be accessed. The Home Access Center is available online or as an app. If you need assistance with your Home Access account, call the front office at 281-983-8484 and someone will assist you.

Family Lunch and Learn

Our October family lunch and learn will be on Wednesday, October 26th at 12:30pm. The topic will be digital citizenship with information presented by our tech specialist, Mrs. Caro, and our library information specialist, Ms. Murray.

We hope to see you there!

All 9th -11th grade Kerr students will be taking the PSAT on Tuesday, October 25th. Kerr is proctoring the exam for all students on the same date, which may be different than other Alief campuses.

Student Support

*Freshmen seminars took place this week and all freshman have received instructions to schedule their individual conferences with their counselors. Freshman conferences will begin Monday, October 24 and last through November 11. Students will schedule their own appointment time on Sign-Up Genius.

If you are interested in the seminar and did not get to attend the parent zoom session, you can watch the recorded session here --

*Students that registered in advance will be attending a college field trip with the counselors this month. Texas A&M and Lamar University trips will be the first week of November.
