TMS Weekly Update
January 27th, 2017
Monday= Two Presentations by Chris Herren
Chris Herren’s story and his redemptive rise from the depths of addiction were captured through the publication of the book,Basketball Junkie and the release of the ESPN Films documentary, Unguarded. As a result, Chris Herren has received thousands of desperate “calls for help” from others facing addiction. The student presentation starts with the students watching a 29-minute DVD of The Chris Herren Story. The DVD provides the audience with an overview of the Chris HerrenStory by using excerpts from Unguarded, the ESPN Film documentary on Chris Herren, footage and clips of Chris playing basketball in high school, college and for the NBA. Following the DVD presentation, Chris continues to share his story picking up from the conclusion of the film. Speaking about experiences that have impacted his life as a teenager, athlete and speaker, Chris will touch on such topics as alcohol, smoking pot, drugs and decision-making. Additionally, Chris will share statistics of drug and alcohol nationwide. To conclude the event, Chris will field questions from the audience. (http://www.theherrenproject.org/)
The evening presentation will start with a 5-minute DVD introducing Chris Herren. Chris will then share his story in an honest format with just a microphone. To conclude the event, Chris will field questions from the audience. After the questions, Chriswill greet anyone who may need to speak with him further regarding himself or herself or even a loved one.
