Board Meeting Details


The September 29 special board meeting was held both on site at the District Office and remotely via Zoom. Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, only 10 people were permitted inside the boardroom at any given time, observing proper physical distancing and wearing face coverings. Members of the public could listen/observe the meeting by logging in to a designated Zoom webinar. For open/community participation, a laptop was set up in the District Office to accommodate live public comment. The district also created a dedicated voicemail line for public comment.

Community Participation Relative to Matters on the Meeting Agenda


There were 20+ voicemails played and no live speakers during the community participation section. The overwhelming majority addressed the school re-entry/reopening efforts with varying opinions.

Middle School Parent Survey Results

Mr. Steckling described the survey that was sent out to the community last week and then introduced Mr. Kuo to offer up a detailed analysis of the results. Mr. Kuo walked through slides explaining the survey results. 60.8% prefer the hybrid model, while 39.2% prefer to stay with 109 Online.

Middle School Plans

Mr. Rafferty said that there have not been any substantive changes to the plan presented last week and that the administration is available to answer any questions tonight that the board has regarding the plan.


Board members asked several questions of the administration and discussed the proposed plan at length.

Approval Of Middle School Plan

The Board voted to approve the plan to shift the middle schools to an AM/PM hybrid schedule.
