PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by MONICA ARBOW
Dear Nancy Ryles Families,
We are getting very excited to launch the new school year! Teachers’ first day back is Monday, August 30, and our staff will be engaged in professional development as well as getting classrooms and learning spaces ready for students’ arrival. At this point all teacher/student assignments are tentative. You can expect to learn via email who your child’s teacher is by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2. This will be in time for the Meet Your Teacher event on Friday, September 3.
We have an update on the Meet Your Teacher event next Friday. District guidelines continue to change and the most recent change involves parents, volunteers, and visitors. Beginning August 30, only students will be allowed to enter the school. Parents will need to stay outside for the Meet Your Teacher event. We will have staff scattered inside the school to help direct students to classrooms. In addition, we will be staggering the times for students to come meet their teacher. Meet Your Teacher will be for 1st-5th grades only.
8:30-9:00 a.m. -- Students with last names starting A-L
9:00-9:30 a.m. -- Students with last names starting M-Z
Outside activities remain the same, with the Information/Fun Fair opening up at 9:00 a.m. and Play Fit Fun events starting at 9:30 a.m.. Parents, you are welcome to peruse the Information/Fun Fair while your child is meeting his or her teacher and dropping off supplies and then your student can meet you under the covered area.
This event is for grades 1-5. (Kindergarten will offer 20-minute appointments on the first two days of school. Kindergarten families, please refer to the Kindergarten Letter for more information about the appointments. You are welcome to visit the informational fair, but kindergarten classrooms will not be open during the Meet Your Teacher event.)
Please respect your designated times to help us keep capacity down and maintain 3-feet social distancing.
Masks are required at all times inside the building and outside on school grounds.
We ask that students only visit their classroom. There may be a strong desire to visit previous teachers, however we want to respect other teachers’ time and space during this visit. There will be plenty of opportunities this year to see previous teachers.
Thank you for your flexibility and helping us keep health and safety at the forefront. If you choose not to attend this event, or are unable to, you will receive an email from your child’s teacher with information needed for the first day of school. You can also bring supplies on the first day of school.
The new guidance for parents and volunteers will result in some changes to how we will be hosting Back to School Night as well as other future events. Back to School Night will be a virtual event. We will send out more information in our next newsletter. We appreciate your patience and grace as we continue to navigate the pandemic and keep our students, staff, and families safe.
Sincerely,
Monica Arbow
Principal

STUDENT VERIFICATION
If you have not completed your fall verification process through ParentVUE, we encourage you to do it as soon as possible. These verifications are meant for currently enrolled students. We encourage parents to complete the required annual process before school begins. If you don’t complete this process before the start of the school year, it doesn’t mean your child isn’t enrolled in our schools. Verification simply allows you to double-check important information such as emergency contacts and any health/medication requirements are up-to-date in our system.
Click on the “Family Updates and New Student Enrollment” tab in the top right-hand corner and “Verification and Family Updates” from the drop-down menu on the next screen to start the verification process. A message will display in your parent portal with a link to the online verification screens for your review.
If you have not activated your ParentVUE account or if you have access concerns, please contact your school (not the District’s Central Office). If you have forgotten your ParentVUE password, please follow these instructions to reset.
