Cyber and Video Safety Suggestions
Please monitor your child’s online activities, the games your child plays on their electronic devices, and the shows and movies they may be viewing. Be aware that there are predators who play and monitor some of the online activities that your child may be engaging in. Have discussions with your child regarding on line safety and knowing whom they are playing with. Be warm and accepting of their conversations with you as they may be frightened sharing with you. Be aware of the movies and programs your child may be watching regardless of their age and maturity level. Often a child needs clarification and assistance processing the programming that they are watching. Take advantage of the opportunities to discuss material with your child and to touch base regarding their beliefs and opinions. Watch for any changes in their behavior and ask questions daily about their activities. Make them aware of the dangers posed by some games, shows and activities.
There are a few resources regarding Internet Safety on the Guidance and Counseling Department Website: http://www.conroeisd.net/department/guidance-counseling/
As you monitor and discuss your child’s online activities, please take time to visit with your child about social networking. Most children today are using social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine or Twitter to name just a few, please discuss with your child what is appropriate and what is not appropriate to post on these sites about themselves and others. Please encourage your child to let you know if they are exposed to strangers who are trying to play games with them or engage them in conversations. There are rising occurrences of hidden messages in many you tube videos, take the time to watch the videos with your child.
Please reinforce the importance of reporting any suspected dangers to the appropriate authorities. Individuals may make reports to CISD's KidChat hotline at 1-888-KidChat (543-2428) or the Anonymus Alerts App.
We care about each and every student. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your campus counselor, administrator or the district Guidance and Counseling Office at 936-709-7846. Thank you for working with us to keep a safe environment for our students and our community.

Spring Carnival/Fundraiser - Ride Through the Decades
Mark your calendars! The 2019 Ride Through the Decades Spring Carnival and Fundraiser will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 5-8 pm. The event will include entertainment, games, a kid’s raffle, silent auction, food, and lots of family fun!
Tickets:
Next week, you will receive a form for pre-ordering your raffle/games tickets and food tickets, as well as information about a new option to purchase tickets online this year. The deadline to pre-order tickets for Ride Through the Decades will be Monday, March 18th – the Monday after spring break. We encourage everyone to promptly pre-order your tickets so that this deadline doesn’t sneak up on you. Raffle/games tickets will still be available for purchase on the night of the event, but all food must be pre-ordered.
Donations:
We could still use some silent auction and raffle donations. If you have any business connections that would help obtain items for us, please let us know. All donations are tax-deductible, and we provide businesses with a receipt containing our tax ID number for their records.
Candy:
After spring break, be on the look out for volunteer signups. We will send another email when those are posted. We will also request donations of movie-size candy boxes for the candy walk, but these will not need to come to the school until the week of our event.
Deadlines:
3/1 (Friday) - Send $5 for grade level basket
3/18 (Monday) - Pre-Order Raffle/Games & Food Tickets (by cash, check, or online)

Library Volunteers Needed
Library volunteers fill a very important role, as it frees up the librarian to spend more time teaching and helping our students foster a love of reading. By getting the books back out on the shelves as quickly as possible it allows the children to have a wide variety of books to choose from.
Below you will find the link to our Signup page.
Thank you all for your continued consideration and support. We look forward to working with you!
