Meet the Teacher Night

We invite you to join us for Meet the Teacher and Back to School Night events. We are looking forward to the upcoming school year and hope you will join us in celebrating this exciting time of year.

Owen Does Good

Every year the Teichert family chooses a service project in honor of their son Owen, who passed away in infancy. This year, the Teichert family selected the new Washington Kindergarten teachers, Ashley Turner and Leona Sandoval, for their service project. Volunteers from Owen Does Good delivered and organized classroom supplies for the new teachers.

"I think that is the nature of this project, these people are learning about our son and his legacy, and we are able to give back to the community during the process," said Kathryn Teichert.

We are so grateful for the Teichert family and Owen Does Good non-profit organization for their generous donations to the children at Washington Elementary School!

Spotlight on Caldwell Welding Program

Caldwell High School students Gage Schleicher, Stone Stills, and Wyatt Felton represented Caldwell in the National SkillsUSA welding competition held in Atlanta, Georgia last month. Through the coaching and support of their welding instructor, Mr. Ivak Cooper, the team came in eleventh out of the 40 high school teams competing.

Gage, Stone, and Wyatt prepared for the event by establishing a rigorous practice schedule. They spent many hours collaborating, problem solving, designing, and completing welding tasks in preparation for the competition.

The team has expressed how they "can't wait until next year, and they want to win it all!"

We are very grateful for Mr. Cooper and proud of Gage, Stone, and Wyatt!

True Leaders

Last month, incoming Caldwell High School Freshmen Maylee McConnell-Soong and Keira Ferro attended the 4-H True Leaders in Equity Institute in Washington D.C. Maylee and Keira used their time and experience to develop a community health equity project.

Recognizing that schools are the primary source of meals and nutrition for many students in our community, Maylee and Keira are hoping to lay a foundation for system change that will lead to increased access to healthy foods and a better understanding of proper hydration practices.

Maylee and Keira are supported by local University of Idaho Extension staff and the Well Connected Communities National Health Initiative. They look forward to sharing their project with other students, district staff, and community members.

BUS ROUTE CHANGES

Caldwell Transportation Company (CTC) has been conducting an in-depth review of routing from last season and found many routes and students stops can be consolidated and/or streamlined. CTC is looking at every possible avenue to make the 2022-2023 school year as successful as possible for everyone.

Parents, please be sure to check Skyward for new student stops, times, and bus numbers. As always, we appreciate the supportive working relationship we enjoy with our schools, parents, and community. We are looking forward to another great year!

COVID-19 Information

There is nothing more important to Caldwell School District than the safety and health of our students, our staff, and their families. Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases across Canyon County, it is very likely your child may come into close contact with a COVID-19 positive case. We will continue to monitor the situation and follow our District COVID-19 Plan.

Our main goal is to keep schools open and to keep students attending.

We encourage you to learn more at CDC Operational Guidance for K-12 Schools.
