FSU Staff Attend Kick-Off of the AACU 2021-22 Institute of Open Educational Resources
On July 26th and 27th, a three-person team (consisting of Interim Library Dean Millie Gonzalez as Team Lead, ETO Instructional Designer Steven Courchesne, and Interim Dean of the College of Business Dr. Patricia Thomas) attended the intensive, 2-day kick-off event that heralds the start of the year-long, online 2021-2022 Institute on Open Educational Resources, organized by the AACU, with expertise and leadership from OpenStax and ISKME.
The Institute is meant to support small teams (selected from a larger pool of applicants) of campus leaders from educational institutions around the country as they design OER implementation and acceleration plans for their campuses. Events throughout the year will include intensive trainings, monthly webinars, consultations with OER experts, inter-team collaborations, and an ending capstone event.
Congratulations again to the FSU team for being selected to participate in the Institute - we look forward to the results of your labors!

"In this talk I will share lessons from my own experiences as an open scholar. I will point to how small shifts in individual choices and structural incentives can redraw the scholarly publishing landscape in a way that repositions open scholarship as the default practice. I will also discuss how open scholarship widens equitable access, enhances impact, provides transparency, and enables collaboration."
-Dr. Rajiv Jhangiani, Associate Vice President, Teaching and Learning at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in British Columbia.
