Life on the Goldfields
Life on the Goldfields all started in 1851, when a man named Edward Hargraves found five beautiful, shiny grains of gold. Edward Hargraves told the government of what rare, soft and minor part of gold he found. The government told the whole of Australia where to find the gold which started a new ‘Gold Fever’.

‘Goldfields’
After the news had spread, thousands of people journeyed to Australia hoping they could find gold. In the Goldfields it was really hard to reside in, there was no electricity, no good food and no nice law. The food they had to eat was as sickening as slugs, and the only special food they could eat was rotten, salted meat. In the Goldfields, you can’t trust anyone and you may or will need to fear everyone at night because if other diggers/miners see you with gold, they will try to take it which will be very disheartening.
‘Men and Women’
Every day on the Goldfields, many women will have to try their best to stay alive because of food poisoning, food poisoning is the reason only few children and women lasted in the Goldfields. The men that worked on the Goldfields were so desperate to find that gold, or example; if you were a digger/miner and you found a piece of gold, you can live off that for the rest of your entire life.

‘Life on the Goldfields’
In those days almost everyone was deprived, that is only one of the reasons gold was so eminent. Some of the techniques that the miners used was; panning, fossicking, cradle and sieve. People loved gold so much that they will sacrifice themselves for it, literally, people left everything they had just to find it like;families, houses, jobs, homes, etc
We are all so lucky that we have things like electricity, money and we aren’t all suffering, maybe next time you walk past a poor person, give him some money. By
