Return to Virtual Learning Monday
We have had a great week with the return of Freshmen to Frankfort High School. Nearly 60% of Freshmen opted to return in person and these students have done a great job learning and following building protocols to create a safe learning environment.
Unfortunately, due to the community spread of COVID-19 throughout Franklin County, we have been deemed a RED County. While no cases have been connected to Frankfort High School or Frankfort Independent we do strive to be good stewards of our community and thus have made the decision to return to virtual instruction on Monday, November 16th.
The building will still be open for students tomorrow Friday, November 13th, as it has been this week if any students and/or families wish to continue with in-person support.
We are hopeful that numbers will fall quickly and we may be able to get back on track with our return plan.
As always if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to let us know.
Break coming Thanksgiving Week
There will be NO SCHOOL Nov. 23-27.
Gabe Langley Boaventura named Semper Fidelis All-American
Gabe Langley Boaventura and Mentor Coach Craig Foley were honored in a ceremony at FHS this past week. Gabe is one of 96 in the entire United States to receive this honor as a premiere High School Athlete in the Class of 2020. Gabe was inducted into the Semper-Fidelis All-American Program and chose Coach Foley as his mentor for the profound impact he has had on his life.
The title of United States Marine is earned, never given. The same is true of a Semper-Fidelis All-American. Becoming an All-American puts you in elite company and allows opportunities that will open the doors to future success.
Proudly presented by the United States Marine Corps, the Semper Fidelis All-American Program recognizes high school students who face life’s battles with the conviction and determination to succeed.
These students embody the same fighting spirit that Marines stand for by taking on the challenges of succeeding academically while bettering their communities and excelling in athletics and extracurricular activities. They have turned obstacles into victories through drive and passion and will be recognized for their achievements at the exclusive Battles Won Academy that are being held virtually.
Everyone at FHS is proud of Gabe and his accomplishments. Congratulations!
Senior Internship Information
During the 2021 Spring Semester, we are offering Seniors two options for completing the Internship Program next semester.
Option 1, is to participate in a traditional Internship placement, which may be in-person, virtual, or both.
Option 2, is to participate in a Senior Project.
Below are several resources, including a series of videos where I explain the options. In total, all three videos are about 45 minutes. I apologize for the length of these videos, but I wanted to make sure you had the information needed prior to making your decision. Feel free to skim through them, if needed. I have also included links to the slideshows I use if you'd like to look at them in more detail or would just prefer to look through them yourself. Finally, I provide the most important link, which is for a Google Form where you will document your decision. The deadline to submit this form is by the end of day next Monday, November 16th. If we have not received a form from you, your student will automatically be enrolled in a Senior Project.
Thank you all so much for your patience and support through these crazy times. Prior to making your decision, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Senior Pictures & Baby Photos DUE DATE for Yearbook
Please email the original size photo from the photographer to Julia.harmon@frankfort.kyschools.us. Usually 3/4 body shot, or head shots look the best in the yearbook. Full body, or standing full length pose tend to make the Senior's face too small on the page.

Student organized Toy Drive
This Saturday, November 14th, we will be hosting a toy drive in two separate locations in Frankfort to collect toys for non-profit organizations. There will be one drive at FHS and one at AMA On The Creek - Old Buck Run Baptist Church. You can find information for both drives in the graphics above and below.
If you can't make it to the drives but still want to help out, Mrs. Pennington will have a box in her room for people to drop off toys all week. The box will be picked up Friday afternoon so try and get them in before Friday. New and used toys will be accepted. You can even log House Points for donating toys for our drive! We hope you can come out to the drive/show or drop off some toys to help give back to our community.
For any questions you have, please get in contact with myself or anyone on our Leadership Team.

We Scare Hunger Help Franklin Co Women and Family Shelter with Donations
Last Thursday, members of Frankfort High School's Kentucky YMCA Youth Association Chapter led their yearly We Scare Hunger campaign, collecting items needed by the Franklin County Women and Family Shelter. This year, our campaign looked slightly different from previous years in which donations were dropped off at the school for two weeks and then our members walked the South Frankfort neighborhood to collect donations residents set outside for collection. In the end, our students and community were able to raise over 150 items to assist the Franklin County Women and Family Shelter. The coming months will likely continue to become increasingly difficult for many in our community. If you were unable to make a donation this year, but would like to help, our chapter asks that you please visit https://www.fcwomenandfamilyshelter.org/donate.html and make a small monetary contribution. Thank you for supporting those in need within our community!

NOSSI College of Art
Nossi College of Arts has sent information to be shared with all students thinking about going to college for the Arts. Gregory Havens sent this to our students.
I wanted to remind you about Nossi College of Art as a college option for your creative students. Nossi is fully accredited and offers 4 year degrees in Illustration, Graphic Design, Photography and Video/Film. We also have a 2 year certificate in Culinary Arts. Many schools offer some creative options but at Nossi we specialize in them. The entire campus was designed and built from the ground up around these careers. We combine state of the art studios with current working professionals in their field. This produces graduates that companies want to hire. We never charge out of state fees, offer multiple scholarships and match KEES money dollar for dollar.
I wanted to share a few things going on at Nossi College of Art. One of the creative periodicals " Animation Career Review Magazine" has released new 2020 numbers. Nossi's Illustration program was ranked # 1 in Tennessee and # 3 in the Southeast. I have attached web info if you would like to check it out.
On Saturday, November 21, we will be hosting our bi-annual College Preview Day. This is a Senior only open house. Students must pre-register and that can be done online at nossi.edu. There are no fees and it is a great way for students considering a creative degree to check out Nossi. Participation will be limited this year due to Covid.
Sincerely,
Gregory Havens
