Earth Day
We took some time out of our busy day to clean up our playground. There were lots of wrappers scattered about. We also got to enjoy a beautiful day.
Math
We started our nonstandard measurement unit using paper clips, unifix cubes and unit cubes to measure items end to end without any gaps. We found every day items in our classroom to measure.
Buddies
We made Earth Day t-shirts out of paper with our buddies. We are all doing our part to keep our Earth clean,
Math
We are enjoying measuring so much that one student took pencils from the jar to measure our rug!
Real World
We were given the task of designing a zoo to hold 100 animals. We had to had between 3-5 different types of animals. When we were done, we found out that we would be getting a shipment of 40 new animals. Did our zoo have enough space? Now that is real world!
Science
We finished up our unit on the water cycle. We demonstrated what happens when the water droplets condense in the cloud and it starts to get too full.
Success!
The science experiment showed us that the droplets will fall from the cloud as precipitation and the water cycle starts all over again.
Phonics
We have been learning the rules for when two vowel are together in a word, the first vowel is long...when two vowels go walking the first one does the talking!
Measurement
We made ramps with our clipboards and raced racing cars down them. We used unifix cubes to measure the distance from the end of the clipboard the back wheel of the car. The children were figuring out how to build a ramp to make the cars go far!
