VOCABULARY
ACID: a proton donor that can produce hydrogen ions by combining with bases.
BASE: a hydroxide ion donor that accepts protons from an acid.
NEUTRAL: an aqueous solution that has a pH of 7.0
THE EXPERIENT
MY METHOD: For eac item being test i wen to their location as i did the experiement; no clean up afterwards. I used a toothpick to put test subject onto strip for each solution then dispossed of both toothpick and strip after use.
-first test subject: Clorox Bleach
pour tiny amount into detergant lid and dipped toothpick into liquid then applied it to the strip. compared colors to pH chart and recorded data then took picture of materials and cleaned lid.
-second test subject: Windex
tilted botte on bacj side so that nozzle faced ceiling. filled nozzle area with solution and put toothpick in then transfered to strip. compared results then recorded the pH level and took pictureof materials.
-third test subject: Vinegar
dipped toothpick directly into container top then put liquid on strip and compared to chart. recored data then took picture.
-fourth test subject: Tomato
cut tomato in half and stuck toothpick into juice then applied it to the strip. compared colors and recorded pH then took picture.
-fifth test subject: Lysol Disinfectant
tilted bottle back and filled nozzle then put toothpick in liquid. transered to strip then compared results and recorded data and took picture of materials.
-sixth test subject: Lime
cut lime in half the squeezed juice onto toothpick over sink. transfered to strip, compared results and recorded pH then took picture.
-seventh test subject: Eye Contact Cleaner
squeezed solution on toothpick over sink then put liquid onto strip. compared colors and recoded data then took picture.
-eighth test subject: Battery Acid
dad broke battery with hammer on towel. dipped toothpick into solution then applied to strip. compared to chart and recorded pH then took picture of materials.
-ninth test subject: Cooking Oil
dipped toothpick into container then put liquid on strip. compared with chart and recorded data then took picture of materials.
-tenth test subject: Sink Water
held toothpick under running faucet then applied solution to strip. compared to chart, recorded pH then took picture.
-eleventh test subject: Ammonia Water
dipped toothpick into container, transfered to strip and compared colors to chart. recorded data then took picture.
-twelfth test subject: Baking Soda
dispensed in sink water dipped toothpick into solution then transfered to strip. compared results and recorded pH then took picture of materials.
