Buckalew-Specific Remote Learning Details
Buckalew Remote Learning Center
Buckalew has created an online Remote Learning Center for your Buckalew student. We hope this will provide clarity on how to communicate with your child's teacher, what office hours are available, and what platform each grade level is using to provide remote learning.
You can use this as the only thing you want to reference for remote learning, or if you need more activities and content, please visit the CISD site above. Content will be added to our Buckalew Remote Learning Center as we continue to gain momentum in providing this new learning experience. Please continue to check this for reference and email your child's teacher specifically if you have any questions.

Starting Monday March 23rd
What can you expect from our campus?
Due to the ever changing situation regarding COVID-19, and in the best interest of the health, safety, and well-being of its students, staff, and the community, Buckalew is closed March 16, 2020 through April 10, 2020. Buckalew will continue to work under limited operations during this school closure.
Buckalew specific updates will continue to be shared via our Buckalew Buzz, campus website, campus facebook page, and email blasts. If you are a parent of a current student, please make sure to reach out to your child's homeroom teacher as they are available to support you and your student and answer specific grade level and class information. You may also email contactbuckalew@conroeisd.net for a response.
We will be operating our campus remotely. We will operate from 8-3 every day and staff will have posted "office hours". These "office hours" are when the staff are made available to respond within that hour. Outside of their office hour, they are still working 8-3 but the response time may be delayed. Please see our Buckalew Remote Learning Center for details.
Mondays-
- Teachers will email you direct content and expectations. This is not meant to overwhelm you but to support you at home. If it is too overwhelming for you as a parent or your child during this time, please know we are here for you in as many capacities as we can.
- Paper Copies for the week will be made available in the Buckalew car rider line by grade level 9am-1pm.
- Items that you may have left at school and need to have access to can be picked up. Please email your child's teacher what/where the item is located and we will make sure it is ready for pick up on that following Tuesday.
Tuesdays & Thursdays-
- Conroe ISD will be distributing free meals to students 10am-1pm at The Woodlands High School and The Woodlands College Park High School.
Fridays- A Remote Learning Buzz will be sent out with weekly updates from our entire campus. We are hoping to continue our Picture Perfect Friday Videos. An email link and FB link will be posted each Friday (we need your help, please email pictures to tonsmith@conroeisd.net)
Immediate Communication
You should have received an email yesterday (Thursday 3/19) from your child's teacher. Our teams are working extremely hard to streamline all instruction so it is exactly the same across each grade level. Please make sure to respond to your child's teacher and acknowledge that you did in fact receive the email. We are working individually through each teacher to assess each student's need at this time. Right now we are just making sure you are connected to our email. If they have not heard a response from their families they will reach out to see if there are any support you need. As a campus, we ask that you work directly with your child's homeroom teacher as we work out these logistics and get each student what they need at this time. We are a new online school, learning how to operate, so we are starting with basic communication first.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, we miss our bears dearly!
We are #BEttertogether
Social Distancing not Social Isolation
Buckalew's Facebook Page:
- We are having "photo challenges" simply to see your friendly faces. Our teachers will start engaging in these challenges as soon as they can!!!
- Mrs. Price will go LIVE on video announcements on Monday at 10am. We would love for you to join us with your kids so we can hear from them! Feel free to give shout-outs or tell us what students are sitting beside you if you feel comfortable.
- Mrs. West is posting author read aloud's regularly.
- Other Events TBD.
Picture Perfect Friday Videos:
Our students LOVE seeing themselves on our "Picture Perfect Friday Videos". We need your help in order to keep this going! Please email tonsmith@conroeisd.net or engage in our Facebook page if you want your child to be included in this weekly video.Zoom:
The Terms of Use for Zoom are TBD for students at this time.
Flipgrid:
Flipgrid is a website that allows teachers to create "grids" to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called "topics," and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display. Our staff made one for our students that we hope you share with them.
See Saw:
Seesaw is a platform for student engagement. Teachers can empower students to create, reflect, share, and collaborate. Students “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. It’s simple to get student work in one place and share with families, and nothing is shared without teacher approval.

Question and Answers
As the COVID-19 is ever-evolving and we are in unknown territory nation-wide, please understand we do not have all of the answers yet, but we hope to navigate this together. This is where we are at the time this is going live to parents:
Dyslexia, Special Education, 504 students, GT, ELL, and other services:
We are learning hourly how to continue to provide modifications, accommodations, and service delivery. We do not have all the answers at this time, but please know that Buckalew has an incredible team that is so invested in each of our children and making sure they get exactly what they need. Services will most likely look very different as the setting, the academic time, and the delivery of all instruction is being completely re-designed. Please know that this group is working with our district coordinators and the state and seeking guidance and support to make sure we get all the answers we can to best support your student. If you have not heard from them by this week, you will by the end of the day Monday as to what services may look like. If you had scheduled ARD's or 504's that were missed already this week or the week of March 23-27, we will be re-scheduling them. If we have ARD's scheduled beyond March 27th, we most likely will be up and running with a different platform so please keep those on your calendar at this time. More to come.
Support
We are here for you and your family and are trying to keep it is simple as possible while continuing to connect remotely with your children. We miss you dearly and hope you are able to join us on this journey together, but if it is too much too soon, we understand.
Grades and Report Cards
The 3rd grading period ended prior to spring break. We are still awaiting specifics on report cards, but we will update you as we know more. As for grades while we are remotely learning, we are not worried about that! We want to continue your child's love of learning and connection to Buckalew, and build on the foundation that we started.
Completed Work
Teachers will be accepting work in an online format as well as a paper version. For now, please hold onto all paper versions.
Testing/Assessments
We have no plans to give tests or assessments to your child as we navigate this remotely.
