What is Anthrax

Anthrax is an infectious disease that is contracted by a bacteria. when Anthrax is in the host it has chosen. it looks like a big red rash, that can take anywhere from one day to 60 days to "activate". Anthrax can be in humans and also in animals. It can wait years until it gets to a host.

Locations it is found

Some of the different continents Anthrax is found are in Asia, Sub-Sahelian Africa, Southern Europe and also parts of Australia.

Causes of Anthrax

Anthrax is caused by the organism Bacillus Anthracis. In some parts of the world, this can be found in cattle or other hoofed mammals. it also It is infrequent in western Europe and the US, and is more likely to be found in animals in south and central America, south and east Europe, Asia and Africa.

Preventing Anthrax

You can prevent Anthrax with vaccines such as ciprofloxacin and doxycyclin. you will need this vaccine at least 5 times in 18 months and over those 18 months you need annual boost, to stay protected from Anthrax.

Symptoms of Anthrax

If you had Anthrax some of the symptoms you would have would be nausea, vomiting, fever, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, headaches, severe bloody diarrhea in the later stages of Anthrax, sore throat and difficulty swallowing and swollen neck.

What organs are effected in the body by Anthrax

If you had Anthrax the organs in your body that would be affected would be your membranes, because they would get inflammation. also your spinal cord would fill up with a fluid and that would lead to massive bleeding.

How Anthrax is Transmitted

Anthrax is transmitted through inhaling the spores and it is also transmitted through eating contaminated meat. Usually Anthrax bacteria is transmitted through open cuts/wounds.


the last reported case of inhalation anthrax was in 1976; the last reported case of cutaneous anthrax, which is more common, occurred in 2000. right now there are 0 Anthrax out breaks or 0 cases a year.

Treated or Cured

Anthrax is treated with a 60 day course of antibiotics. The antibiotics are: ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, monodox, and vibramycin. The treatment is most efficient when started earlier. It also depends on how you got Anthrax or how it was transmitted to you. Because that would effect what kind of antibiotics you would take.

Bio Terrorism

If anthrax was used as a weapon in the United States, the attack could be found in two different ways. Monitoring systems that are set up nationwide. Could detect Anthrax after it was released. it might go unnoticed until doctors begin to see unusual/weird patterns of sickness among patients in emergency rooms. it would take days after it was released to confirm that it is Anthrax But with enough evidence, CDC and other health agencies would not need to wait for lab confirmation before they took action.
