Extra Points : Coach Pomazak's Message
Weekly greetings to all and a happy NFL Sunday. While the weather is not agreeable, I cannot lie that I do not mind a rainy day now and then. It gives me the reason I need to stay inside and gameplan while I catch up on some laundry and day-to-day live activities.
This week, I will be short and to the point and keep the material pertinent and meaningful. While I am unbelievably proud of our varsity for the effort they put forth this past week, I am equally as proud of every player and coach at all levels. From the beginning of the week, our players improved. The Junior varsity came out on a beautiful Monday morning and set the table with a convincing win over the WWS JV team. Coach Maize and Rizzi did a wonderful job preparing our JVD, and players like Ethan Plumb, and Aidan Hayes made the most of the opportunity by having to stand out games.
At the lower levels, this week was one where the scores should not be the marker of success. Each week, I am more and more impressed by the strides our sophomore team is making. While wins have been hard to come by, the effort and attitude have been a beacon of light. That staff and those boys care! They care about each other, and they care about football. Their day is coming, but I want them to know that we see the love for the game, and that is all we can ask for. The freshman game was just all-out war. The frosh stars battled for four quarters and, in my humble opinion, outplayed their counterparts. It was truly a case of one player versus an entire team. As the head coach, I understand that losing players to the sophomore level can be difficult. However, this team has never flinched. The fight the boys gave was inspiring. Their staff, led by Chip McPheeters and team leaders, have raised the bar, and the entire program is improving because of their sacrifice. I owe them a tremendous amount of gratitude. Thank you, boys!
Finally, I encourage every parent, grandparent, and family friend to attend SCN this Friday as we take on the reigning state champion Wheaton North Falcons. They will travel well, and they are a talented team. What a great opportunity for the North Star faithful to pack the place and let them feel the passion of our community as they step onto the field. Our Stars are ready, and the Falcons will feel our determination when the bell rings. I hope to see you there, cheering and enjoying the atmosphere our community has created.
Thank you all for the privilege of being a part of this amazing program. I will continue to level up my efforts to ensure our program is one that you want your sons and daughters to be a part of.
