Help Our Teachers to Not Be the Uniform Police!!!

I ask that before the first day of school that you carefully review the Uniform Policy with your child(ren). Our teachers want to start the day on a positive note so they can focus on educating your child(ren) and not writing up Uniform Notices. We understand that children (especially the older they get) will rebel against a uniform. You are not alone! But we do ask that you support the school efforts in promoting the practice of enforcing the school uniform and instilling a sense of school pride, an appreciation of modesty and personal responsibility.

There is a wealth of academic research out there supporting the importance of a school uniform linking it to academic success for students. Also you can also show your child(ren) a picture of the uniform of the Swiss Guard that has the job of protecting the Pope. As ridiculous as the uniform may look to an unfamiliar onlooker, those young men are proud to wear the uniform designed by Michelangelo!

A few things that you may want to remember...

  • Remember blue shirts with khaki shorts/pants/skirts/skorts and white shirts with blue shorts/pants or plaid skirts/skorts
  • Skirts for the girls in Middle School must be knee length while standing
  • No unusual or fad haircuts that draw attention. Hair must be off the collar, above the ears and eye brows for the boys. Natural hair color only.
  • Girls may wear (1) small set of earrings. Boys are not to wear earrings. Students may wear one (1) Christian/Catholic medal or sacramental on a thin chain inside their shirt or blouse. No bracelets or rings may be worn. No nail polish. No make-up. A simple watch may be worn. No Apple watches or Gizmo watches.
  • Remember tights no leggings
  • Please have girls wear shorts underneath their jumpers
  • Boys oxford shirts may have a pocket but the logo cannot be embroidered on the pocket. If you already have a shirt with a pocket I ask that you make arrangements to plan on getting a new one that does not have a pocket
  • Ties must be in the plaid pattern
  • The PE shirt must be a gray SFCS T-Shirt with school logo (short or long sleeve) for 3 - 8 grades.
  • The PE shorts must be navy blue mesh shorts that need to be longer than finger tips. They do not have to have the logo but must be Navy blue with no writing.
  • Please read the dress code policies for Spirit Days and NUT Cards carefully
