Principal's Message
What an incredible week we had last week! It was one building relationship and community with our families. I noticed many parents and grandparents excited to have lunch and get to see the environment for which their children learn! These "open houses" will be throughout the year on particular days and they are intended to build strong parent/teacher/student relationships. Your job is to maximize on them and encourage your parents to come.
If you noticed, as chief lead learner on campus, I want to continue learning and growing to ensure I'm doing everything in my power to inspire, lead, and innovate for equitable access to great educational opportunities for all our students. This weekend, I officially joined the first cohort of fellows for Latinos for Education fellowship in Houston, TX. I spent the entire weekend learning from some amazing folks! I encourage you to join organizations that will sharpen your skills and ignite the passion for education that you have!
Last week, we were supposed to have a PLC with our MAP data and MAP Skills overview. However, we actually had a conflict with some accountability meetings and therefore we gave you an opportunity to use your time as you wished. We would like to share your data with you and demonstrate MAP Skills so you can begin using it with your students. Cindy will host a PLC for teams this week in C202 room.
Gentle reminder on PD this week:
- Need running records refresher? Great! Gaby Limon will host Running Records 101 from 3-4 p.m. in the library. Look for a KickUp sign up from Cindy G.
- Vivian Pratts will meet with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade bilingual teachers specifically to review Preview, View, and Review framework this Thursday. Vivian Urrutia has coordinated the schedule and will be sent to the bilingual teachers involved.
- TCRWP Affiliate staff developer Jonathan will be here September 16 and 17 to work with 3-5th grade for literacy. A schedule is forthcoming.
- Math PD begins September 17th with 3rd Grade.
Have a great learning week friends!
With love, respect, and admiration,
Rachel Martinez
