SEL Update

Self-care Tip

Our self-care tip for April is about 'social' self-care. Self-care relates to just about every area of a person's life, and social life is no exception. Building and maintaining relationships with friends and family is an important component of our overall well-being. Everyone has different needs in this area, so there is no suggested amount of social self-care a person gets. However, it is helpful to reflect on whether or not we are making time to connect with the people who mean the most to us and nurturing those relationships.

What are Students Learning?

Elementary students will begin learning about problem-solving, while Intermediate and middle school students will dive into conflict resolution. High school students will continue to explore ways to be helpful. Families looking to engage their students around these topics can ask questions like:

- What are you learning during SEL time this week?

- What are the problem-solving steps?

- How can managing strong emotions help prevent conflicts from arising?

- What are some ways you can be helpful at______ (home, school, community)?
