THINGS TO KNOW
1. Big Sister/Little Sister gifts will start once district starts. This should be a $5.00 or less gift to encourage your sis. Examples- a large Gatorade, a note/card for their locker, a locker magnet, quote for inspiration, etc. A basket of junk food is discouraged and will not be healthy for peak performance. You should only do this once a week not twice. Big sister will give Little sister Tuesday & Little sister gifts are Friday. Please don't spend alot of money on this.
2. Locker room decoration is underway and you should be hearing from your team moms asap.
3. Football passes will be given out this week. This will get the girls into the football game after the varsity volleyball team has completed the match. If the football game is at the same location we will have one bus stay on campus and one bus will come back to school.
4. Teacher Mentor- Each athlete will pick a teacher mentor for the season. I will be giving a paper out to the girls to give to their teachers.
Mentor Teacher’s Role and Responsibility:
Motivate in the classroom.
Tutor if necessary for your athlete.
Talk to your athlete’s teachers about a success plan for this athlete. You can make a worksheet or classroom goal sheet.
Maintain clear communication with the player and coach, if classroom problems occur.
Athletes will be given study hall time every game day from
8:00am to 8:45 am. During this time, they will have a tutoring sheet that lets the coaching staff know what teacher they went to talk to. The girls can use this time to meet with you and discuss classroom plans/goals.
Ideas for Motivation:
Athletes love to see their teachers at games so please plan to attend some games this season.
Athletes love spirit notes on game days or maybe a spirit bag (with healthy food ☺)
Possibly make a mini spirit poster for your mentee’s locker.
DRESS CODE IS BEING ENFORCED!
https://www.ltisdschools.org/Page/2608.
Once a student is sent to the office for being out of dress code, they are considered out of dress code and the appropriate consequence will be assessed. I'm not promoting UFC or Dana White, but "Don't leave it in the hands of the judges."
General Guidelines:
- When in doubt don't
- Leggings are okay with an appropriate layer over them (laymen's terms the t-shirt needs to cover your rear end)
- Spaghetti Straps are great for a night out, not for school
- Tucking in the oversized sweatshirt or t-shirt is not the best move for shorts
- We don't want to measure for a 3" inseam or fingertip length for shorts and skirts, please don't make it close
- I'll put on my hoodie/jacket won't work as a fix
