SPANISH SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL
Week of May 10 - May 14
From the Desk of Principal Tammy Hart
Hello Spanish Springs High School Families!
Spanish Springs High School Graduating Class of 2021 will celebrate their graduation commencement on Monday, June 21, 2021. The ceremony will take place at our very own Spanish Springs High School Stadium! Planning is underway to prepare for this joyous occasion. We are working out all the details and will supply Seniors and the school community with additional information pertaining to the specifics regarding the time of the ceremony, number of guests allowed, parking, rehearsal date and time, etc. We will need to adhere to the Governor's directives as it pertains to social distancing for the event. At this time and to be compliant with social distancing guidelines, there will be two separate ceremonies to accommodate for our 562 Seniors. We are excited for our Seniors who will have the honor of being the FIRST class is SSHS history to have their ceremony on site at the SSHS Football Stadium!

SSHS Spring Finals June 4 - June 9
A Note from the Student Relations Office
As we quickly move toward the end of the school year, please remind your students of the following safety requirements:
· Students must wear appropriate face coverings at all times (covering both nose and mouth).
· Students may remove face coverings only when eating/drinking. If students are moving, masks must be on.
· Dress Code: We are experiencing more challenges with students wearing hats/hoodies inside the building. This creates a safety risk and does not follow the WCSD dress code policy. Also, we are experiencing higher rates of female students wearing shirts that expose the mid-drift/stomach. Clothing that covers the mid-section is required by the WCSD dress code policy.
Thank you for your efforts in keeping us all safe.
Yearbooks!
Attention ALL students: Hybrid, In-Person, and Distance Learners
Yearbook Distribution will be at Lunch on Wednesday June 2nd and Thursday June 3rd in the courtyard beside the gym/outside the admin offices (by the student drop off area). Students will need a picture ID to receive their yearbook.
Yearbooks are still available for purchase at the webstore for $90 while supplies last. If you experience any webstore issues, contact Megan Svare at msvare@washoeschools.net

Spectator Update!
Beginning with the Spring Athletic Season, WCSD will allow both home and visiting fans/spectators to all high school games. WCSD School and Athletic Administrations will still have to enforce the guidelines and rules in place listed below by the most recent Governor’s Directive:
** All Spectators must wear a face covering.
· Spectators will not require tickets or will call system needed for entrance.
· As per the Governor’s recent guidance of limiting spectators to 250 people.
· Social Distancing will be enforced, 6ft. per non-family member.
· Athletic facilities will not open concession stands.
- All Spectators must check in with school administrators or game workers and verbally answer all of the Covid-19 Spectator screening questions before entering the facility or field.
- Specific Entrance and Exit locations will be identified.
- Bleacher and seating areas will be identified and spaced accordingly to accommodate for 6 feet of distancing requirements.
** Face Coverings
- Any student who prefers to wear a face covering during a game/contest should be allowed to do so but face coverings are not required during competitions. However, face coverings are required in almost every other situation.
- All students and staff MUST wear a face-covering while on a school bus, in school buildings, or on school campuses unless they have been given approval/exemption by that site principal not to wear one.
- Any adult that is on a school campus MUST wear a face covering at ALL times.
- Coaches, managers, sports staff, officials/referees, and parents/guardians should wear face coverings all times, (if they are on campus).
- Players that are not in the game/contest and are the sideline/bench etc. must wear a face covering at all times.
- Student athletes (all staff including referees) MUST wear face coverings indoors and outdoors EXCEPT when:
- Actively eating and drinking (however social distancing must be maintained)
- If they have an exemption given to them by their school’s administration
- When actively exercising or participating in drills or competitions that exert a good amount of energy (such as running). However if an athlete removes their face covering during these types of drills or game then it is critical that the coach ensures each athlete is socially distanced (6+ feet). If six or more feet cannot be maintained during these activities, drills etc. then players should wear face coverings while they perform such drill etc.
