Greetings Park Terrace Families!

I hope that the past couple of weeks of in person learning have gone well for your student and the transition has been a smooth one! I have had the opportunity to connect with some students throughout the day and so many of them are especially grateful to be seeing their friends in school again. Our entire staff has been doing an incredible job of making sure our students are staying safe while learning. I also want to extend a thank you to all of the families that have been so patient as we have learned from and improved our parent pick up processes.

Additionally, I am truly astonished by the hard work and effort our students in online learning are putting forth. Our online teachers are doing incredible work with their students to ensure they continue to receive the finest education and the ability to socialize with their peers. Whether through lunch bunches, projects, games and discussions, students and staff members should be proud of how well they are doing in adapting to a new way of learning. Keep up the great work!

As we look ahead to weeks ahead, please note that there are a couple of dates to be aware of:

  • February 12 – No school for students. This day is set aside for teachers to use for communication with families, including conferences.
  • February 15 – No school for all students. This is the President’s Day holiday.

Additionally, we are already approaching conferences! Due to our health and safety procedures, conferences will once again be held online via WebEx. Our teachers are currently setting up their conference times. Beginning Friday, students of families learning at school can use the following link to sign up for a conference time with your student’s teacher:

Beginning Friday, Sign Up for a Conference Time

Please note the process to sign up for conferences will be a little different for Extended Flexible Learning. Please connect with your student’s online teacher if you have any questions about how to sign up.

We are wearing our SLP gear or school colors from February 1-12. We hope you and your student will get involved with Panthers for a Purpose as we come together to support the Weekend Food Pack program that helps students stay fed over weekends and breaks!

Updates for Extended Flex Learning Families

Our distance learning staff and students are settling nicely into routine and learning after the latest transition. Students are making great progress and teachers are seeing the benefit of the many collaborative opportunities that have been taking place between home, brick and mortar schools, and distance learning classrooms. Thank you for your continued openness to doing “school” differently!

Teachers are kicking off the February conference month. You will be receiving communication from your student’s teacher about the process for scheduling a conference. Teachers are looking forward to conferences as an additional way to partner with you to learn more about your child as a learner and to plan next steps in their learning. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions about conferences this month. Please note there is no school for students on February 12 and 15.

I am wearing 12 days of SLP gear to support Panthers for a Purpose. I hope your family might join me in supporting the Weekend Food Pack effort. This program does make a difference in our SLP community.

Have a great week. Please connect with me to share your thoughts and concerns. It is always great to hear from you!
