WHAT'S HAPPENING
Math: This week we wrote a LOT of number sentences! We are working on thinking addition when subtracting and recognizing related facts.
Reader's Workshop: This week we began a favorite in Reader's Workshop: Reading Non-Fiction! We reviewed how to determine if a book is non-fiction and began learning about text features. We also booked shopped to make sure we all have 3 non-fiction books to practice our non-fiction reading with. Today we focused on bold words and using a glossary.
Writer's Workshop: This week we continued our collection writing. We looked at exemplar writings to notice what those writers were doing well. Most of us finished writing about our own collections and we have began reviewing one another's collections.
Science/Social Studies: This week we began our economics unit in Social Studies. We discuss the difference between needs and wants. We also began talking about goods and services.
