Glen Lake News for Staff
April 13-17, 2020
Happy Monday Glen Lake
Of course we weren't in the winter clear yet! An April snowstorm seems to be the norm the past few years. Good news is that it'll be all gone in a day or two. As we continue our time away from one another during Distance Learning, there are colleagues of ours who are impacted by the lack of funding that our Nutrition and Community Education departments are receiving. During these challenging times, its critical that we are reaching out to one another and offering support. We have committed, caring, and passionate staff who have put themselves on the frontline during these past few weeks. Thank you!
Feedback reflection and response to action
Here are my "GLOW" reflections:
- A form was filled out for 43% of our students (206 responses). For a survey, this is a "good" response rate. 50% or higher is determined "excellent," and the average response rate is "5-30%"
- For the question "How is Distance Learning going?" the average response was 3.8!
- A lot of positive, appreciative comments about our teachers and their efforts!
- Responses were representative across all grade levels
Here are my "GROW" reflections:
- It's concerning to me that almost 20% of our students are doing more than 4 hours of work a day
- Technology is a common theme for what isn't going well. Too many apps, too many assignments in different places, too many log ins. Though we have seen our students do this juggle in the classroom and may expect them to do it now, it may not be realistic or best practice to do this in our current environment. Are we able to minimize the number of apps for our families?
I will be sending grade level teams their responses, and ask that they review the feedback together sometime this week. Please share with me anything that you plan on MAINTAINING or ADJUSTING based on the feedback.
For the question below, 5 was "excellent" and 1 was "not going well at all"
