Staying Connected

Hello Ptarmigan Families,

I hope you are all doing well as we come into the last week of the 2019-2020 school year. This year will absolutely be one for the record books. We had so many awesome things! We installed new accessible swings, we opened our 4th grade portable, and we did just over 400 positive office referral phone calls to families! Oh, and we closed our building in March due to concerns with COVID-19 and embarked on a whole new way of doing school digitally! Our district is working on a plan for what opening in 2020 will look like, so be tuned in for more on that when those decisions are finalized. But, let’s wrap up the rest of this year first.

I am excited to report that we are welcoming you all to a parade at Ptarmigan on Friday, June 19th from 10am - noon for our last day of school celebration. I know this is not how we traditionally celebrate, but these are unprecedented times. Our staff will be standing along the route to wave and give out air hugs! We will be standing apart to maintain social distancing and must ask that all families remain in their vehicles for everyone’s safety. So feel free to decorate your vehicle, and come wave away the last day of the 2019-2020 school year. We are going to ask families to enter through the big bus loop, you are going to come around the back of the building, and exit down the gravel road back to Old Pioneer and then the highway. We encourage you to consider taking a right on the highway as to help facilitate traffic flow! (See Parade Route Map below)

Students not returning for 2020-2021

The end of the school year always brings with it some families who are moving, or enrolling their student(s) in different school districts or learning opportunities for the following year. If you intend to not have your student attend Ptarmigan Ridge because you are interested in withdrawing your student from the Orting School District, please let us know. If you have questions about the process, please reach out to Danielle Kinney. This does NOT apply to our 5th graders moving on to Orting Middle School.

Student Belongings

If you were not able to pick up your child's belongings last week, the Office will be open Monday thru Thursday next week between the hours of 9-3pm.

Next week we are excited to continue to offer activities for students to participate in that are in addition to their regular class meets. There is no requirement to participate in these, but if they work for your family and are of interest to your child we would love to support you in them. Please remember 1 per child per week. Sign up using this form.

Have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing you all on the 19th!

Alicia Jensen
