Formative and Summative Assessment

Formative and summative assessments are both needed for the education system. Formative assessment gives teacher and student immediate feedback on what the student has learned. Formative assessment can be used throughout the school year for the teacher to adjust lesson plans and see how well students are reacting to the lesson. Summative assessment includes standardized testing and grade-level( whether the student passed to the next grade or not). This testing gives a broader idea of where student stands after a full school year. Both play a major part in determining whether our kids are successful.

These five key strategies would create an effective classroom. It gives the kids ownership and responsibility of their own learning. If these strategies were implemented in all classrooms, our test scores would improve around the world.
