Fourth grade talked about theme using the book The Little Red Pen and then we tried to compare the story to another folk tale we might know! Second grade talked about Veteran's Day and watched a Veteran's Day Rap! The week before Thanksgiving all classes read Balloons Over Broadway. This book tells about Tony Sarg and how he created the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the famous balloons that are showcased during the parade. We even watched a short clip of real footage from the parade in 1920 and 1930.
We also had a fun surprise author visit. Ronda Friend came to our school and presented a fun program to help us with some character traits like being honest.
