From the Principal's Desk
February 9, 2024
Hi Everyone,
If you were able to make it out to our Spring Creek BBQ Night, thank you very much for your support! I always love being able to walk around and talk with families in a relaxed atmosphere. Our next event is the Variety Show on Friday, Feb. 23rd. This is a time to enjoy the many talents that our GO students have. It will be at Dowell Middle School, so please come out to support our students.
There have been several absences lately and our district attendance goal is 97%. Glen Oaks has been sitting at around 95% attendance. We understand that when kids get sick, they need to stay home, but if you can encourage your students to be at school each day, and not take them out of school early unless it’s absolutely necessary, we would really appreciate your support. When students miss even one hour of learning, they are already behind because there are so many things our teachers cover with students. Thank you for your help with this. Have a wonderful weekend with your family!

From the Counselor
Minute Meetings with Mrs. Green
During the month of February, Mrs. Green, our counselor, will be holding minute meetings with every student. Minute meetings are a great way for Mrs. Green to make a quick connection with every student in our building. She will be asking each student the same question: “What is something special about you?” These quick check-ins are not counseling sessions or therapeutic in nature. It’s just a quick chat with Mrs. Green! If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Green at katgreen@mckinneyisd.net.

Kids Heart Challenge
Have you ever dreamed of attending the Super Bowl? The NFL has teamed up with the American Heart Association and Damar Hamlin to turn a nation of bystanders into a Nation of Lifesavers – and some of those lifesavers will be going to the 2025 Super Bowl!
Here’s How to Win!
1. Join your school’s Kids Heart Challenge team (link below!)
2. Complete Finn’s Mission and Learn Hands-Only CPR, introduced by Buffalo Bills safety, Damar Hamlin. Learning hands-only CPR takes less time than watching a Super Bowl Commercial! You’ll then be entered into a drawing to win 2 tickets to the 2025 Super Bowl!

Thank you so much for supporting our school and the American Heart Association!
