Item #1 -World Language Recommendations

7th Grade Core teachers will be completing World Language Recommendations starting this week. These recommendations need to be completed by next Friday, January 22nd. The Language Arts teacher on your team will receive the Google Spreadsheet (shared by Lizzy) in which to complete these recommendations. Please find your team tab in these Google Spreadsheets to complete the recommendation. Linked below is the rubric you will use to guide your scores.

Item #2 High School Recommendations - Update!!!

8th Grade Core Teachers - Please complete recommendations for high school courses. In a separate email from Lizzy you will find your team google doc in which you will complete a rubric score and a recommendation. This document also includes some of their testing data, and columns for teacher rubric scores as well as a final column for the final course recommendation for 9th grade (the columns you need to complete are in purple). Lizzy will be in 8th grade teams this week to discuss this process. Please complete the rubric as well as the final recommendation by next Tuesday, January 19th at 2:30pm

Item #3 - PLAB Assessment

PLAB will be given on 1/14 during advisory and/or core time.

Item #4 - Conferences

Reminder that the window for conferences is open to parents.


Item #5 - 3rd Quarter Grades

​Item #6 - Beginning of 3rd Quarter

Even though technically the beginning of 3rd quarter is on Friday, January 15th, we will NOT be operating under 3rd quarter schedules until January 19th. Please communicate this to the students as well. They should continue in their 2nd quarter classes on 1/15. 3rd Quarter/2nd Semester classes will begin on 1/19.​


Item # 7 - SuperHawks

​The SuperHawks and Cheerleaders are hosting the annual tailgate before and during the silver boys basketball game on Monday, January 25th. All the money collected/donated will be given to Cincinnati Honor Flight. It costs $450 to send a veteran to Washington DC and our goal is $900! During lunches on Thursday, January 21st, Friday the 22nd, and Monday the 25th SuperHawks will be selling raffle tickets for pizza lunches, showers on the principals, and a chance to shoot a half court​ shot at the game. Students will also be able to donate $1 and post an honor flight star in the Cafetorium with their name on it. The team with the most stars will be rewarded with a PJ day (teachers too!).

There will be a brief announcement and 5 minute video shown through the media center in advisory on Friday, January 15th to promote the Honor Flight charity event.


Item #8 - Staff Meeting

Please note this month's meeting will be on Wednesday, January 20th. Please refrain from scheduling any conflicts on this date and all future meeting dates. Everyone is expected to be there at 2:25 as will be begin promptly. Everyone is expected to be there until 3:10 including those of you who cover study tables, coaches and club advisors. We will have coverage If you have any conflicts, please email John prior to the meeting for approval. Thanks.


Item # 9 - Non-Negotiables

It is imperative you read the non-negotiable's Kyle has listed in the Tech Byte section of this edition of The Pulse. This will be put in place and will be effective 3rd and 4th quarter. It is critical that each of you are following these as Central Office will be monitoring our success. If you need any support please see Kyle or myself.


Item #10 - Anthem

I hope you have been reading closely the postings on Jostle from Tammy regarding the contract with Anthem and Mercy Health Systems. Some procedures are no longer covered under the Anthem plan at this time, so be aware before you are left with a bill.


Item#11 - OTM

Thank you to all who have submitted your recommendations for OTM already. If you haven't had an opportunity to discuss OTM as a team yet please do so this week and submit names to Amy Maxwell by Friday. Thank you.

Tech Bytes

Schoology Non-negotiables

Our big district focus across grades 7-12 this semester will be on Schoology usage across all of Nagel. Kyle met with Team Leaders last week to discuss the 6 non-negotiables. This information will be coming your way in several ways throughout this 3rd Quarter. If you would like to look ahead please feel free to view the Schoology Non-Negotiables presentation.


Flexible Furniture Pilot

Allie and Lisa’s room has been used by a number of teachers already and there are a several scheduled for this week. Feedback so far is outstanding. There are still a few spots left if you are interested! Please email Kyle and let him know that you would like to reserve the space.


Display Pilot Update

Finishing touches are still underway but most of the work has been completed! By the end of this week teachers will hopefully have some resources and training to get started using the devices for instruction. Anne B. was the first to get fully set up and she has already begun integrating the tech into her curriculum. She has noticed some marked improvements in these displays vs. the traditional single projector on a cart set up.
