He was born April 2, 1891, Brühl, Ger and he died April 1, 1976, Paris, France.
Max Ernst was a German painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and poet. He became an artist in the Dada movement, what influenced him to create art was that he had a big interest in sculptures and paintings.

He drew houses, buildings, people and animals. His paintings included a variety of bright colors. Many of his work was 3-dimensional. It was also very realistic.

In September 1939, World War II Was occurring which caused Ernst to be interned as an "undesirable foreigner" in Camp des Milles , along with fellow surrealist, Hans Bellmer, who had recently emigrated to Paris.
