6th Grade ACTS

Dance
6th dance focus: Bring 50 3x5 index cards in a ziplock bag for a grade on Monday January 22nd.
DANCE FOCUS- Bake Sale is Feb 1st please begin bringing in nonperishable items ASAP.
Production Technology
We will be sharing our Screencasts this week and learning about using propaganda in media. We will be exploring a new webtool to create our own propaganda.
Math
6th grade math students are continuing their study of algebra by learning how to write and simplify algebraic expressions. This is in chapter 8 of their textbook. Students should plan on a chapter 8 test on FRIDAY this week. Thier homework, skill practice and teacher videos (all on google classroom) make great study and practice materials.
Language Arts
The students are reading "The Dog of Pompeii". We are learning about the impact a volcano may have. A test will be given on this story on Wednesday. Stems test is postponed until Thursday.
Drama
Rotation students are practicing blocking notation techniques with small scenes that they will memorize, rehearse, and then perform for the class on Friday!
Focus students have begun our theatre history unit starting with ancient Greece. Students will have a quiz following the Greek Theatre portion and will soon receive details on a mask project due next month.
Social Studies
Students will study Medieval Times in Europe. They will learn about feudalism, the crusades, and the plague.
Science
The projects are amazing. The students are enjoying presenting as well as seeing what their classmates created. The students will have a test on heat transfer and simple machines on Friday.
Strings
Great job on your playing tests! We will continue working on two part harmony and rounds this week. We will start later G string notes soon. All violin and viola players should have their shoulder rests by now. Please contact me if you have any questions about purchasing one.
