Reflection Corner: Gratitude for the Little Moments

"Gratitude, yes, for all the big things that stand tall, thick with abundance, joy and fruitfulness, but deep thankfulness for the bite –sized pieces of life." – Joyce Rupp

How generous are we in thanking God for the moments of grace that bring peace and unity into our lives and family? Children and loved ones?

60th Anniversary Coffee Table Book

To commemorate the school's 60th anniversary, we are producing a coffee table book, tentatively titled "The Gift of Our Lady of Mercy School." A must-have book for all OLM alumni, students, family, friends, supporters, it hopes to bring all of us down memory lane as each page provides us glimpses of the sixty wonderful years of our school. Special thanks go to the project committee members: Arlene Fife, Jean Anderson, Janti Sommer, and Greg Rougley. More information will be shared in our next staff meeting.

CCSS ELA PD Homework :-)

Just to remind everyone: In our last CCSS ELA PD, we all looked and spent time discussing the first three (of six) shifts that we are expected to focus on as we look at full implementation, namely the following:

Shift 1: Balancing Informational and Literary Texts

Shift 2: Building Knowledge in the Disciplines

Shift 3: Text Complexity

The homework asks each grade level team to do the following:

Brainstorm / Share Ideas to implement the first three shifts in your classrooms.

Decide on one thing that both of you would try to do in your respective classrooms.

Decide what evidence you are going to share with each other and the whole staff in our next meeting (November 23rd).

Prepare a 2 - 3 minute presentation for staff meeting on Monday, November 23rd. Bring pieces of evidence to share.

A Reminder about Tutoring
