Weekly Update
As we come to an end of our full month of school we have a lot to celebrate! Our students have shown that they know and understand school wide expectations. They have wrapped up their beginning of the year academic testing. Grade levels have begun to fully immerse students into daily academics, it has been so great to walk into classrooms and see the collaboration happening in all grade levels! Take a moment to ask your child what the highlight of their week was (besides lunch and recess). We look forward to the month of October where we watch students' wheels turn as they learn new material and begin to understand new concepts! Next week is our Platte County Homecoming week, this is a strong tradition within our district. Feel free to encourage your student to participate in any of next weeks activities. Check the graphic below for specifics.
Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you back on Monday!

Homecoming 2022: A Storybook Homecoming
Platte County's Homecoming festivities run October 3-8, 2022. This year's theme is "A Storybook Homecoming."
PCHS will host the Victory Supper on Wednesday, October 5, starting at 6 p.m. at Pirate Stadium. The Victory Supper will be a community pep rally with our coaches introducing the fall teams, the crowning of the underclassmen candidates and the Homecoming King, and performances by the Traditions Band, PCHS dance team, PCHS cheerleaders, and alumni cheerleaders. PCHS cheerleading alumni are asked to arrive at 5:30 p.m. for a short practice. Second (or third) generation Pirates (those students with parents who graduated from PCHS) are invited to gather at 5:45 p.m. in the southside stands for a group photo. The event is open to the community and food will be available.
The Homecoming Parade will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 7, and will run on Fourth Street from Thomas Drive to Rising Star Park. Students will be dismissed three hours early that day. Parents and the community are encouraged to arrive by 2:25 p.m. as Fourth Street between Zed Martin and Thomas Drive will be closed to traffic beginning at 2:30 p.m. Thomas Drive between Siegrist Elementary and Fourth Street will also be closed. If you'd like to participate in the parade, please contact Kyle Perkins for an entry form by October 5. If you have a convertible or Jeep and would be willing to drive Homecoming candidates, please contact Robin Herron.
- PLEASE NOTE: We are changing the staging area setup for the parade this year. We will be utilizing the bus loop at the PCHS Phase I Rebuild project for float staging, NOT the back parking lot of PCMS this year. Parade entries will receive complete instructions.
- AGAIN THIS YEAR: There will be a shuttle bus to take parade participants and their sponsors back to the main PCR-3 campus. The shuttle bus will be parked along Zed Martin Drive. Floats will disband in the Rising Star Park/Splash Pad and will take the path from Rising Star to Zed Martin Drive. We encourage parents to pick up their participants at the PCR-3 main campus.

Please see the schedule below, teachers will be communicating specifics for reserving time slots.
Wednesday, November 2, 4:30-8:30pm and Thursday, November 3, 4:30-8:00pm

Visitors at Lunch
The Pathfinder Cafeteria is open for visitors! Please sign up in advance to eat with your child! Below are some guidelines that will help make this experience a success:
- Prior to visiting, please verify your student's lunch time and utilize the sign up to reserve your spot (1 sign up = 1 visitor seat). No more than 2 adults can sign up.
- Bring a state-issued ID to get signed in. Visitors must be listed on the student’s SISK12 account or parent permission must be received at the office prior to the visit.
- Please keep in mind that we have limited seating for visitors. Finding other arrangements for younger siblings during the lunch visit would be appreciated.
- Parents can either bring outside food or a packed lunch for their child and themselves. Parents may also purchase a lunch from school, but need to use this sign up to do that in advance.
- Parents may not go back to the classroom or recess after lunch.
- Only the child (no friends) can sit with parent during lunch.
- Outside food and drink will only be permitted if you are staying to eat with your student.
- Parents who show up for lunch without signing up will be added if there is an open spot. If not, the office can help the parent sign up for a future date.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation in making this opportunity a success!

Hall Pass
When visitors are able to sign up to have lunch with their student, we have a specific process that will be followed. At this time, all visitors will be asked to check in with the office upon arrival at school prior to entering the school. Hall Pass Visitor Management system has been installed in all of our schools to improve overall building safety/security and visitor management. The Hall Pass Visitor Management system will:
Conduct a screening on each visitor using the sex offender registry
Will log in volunteers to track their hours
Will be used to document late arriving students.
Whenever any non-student or non-district employee requests to enter any area of the building where children are accessible, essentially beyond the front office, they will be asked to produce a government issued ID:
State driver’s license
State issued ID
Passport
US Military ID
Permanent resident card
The ID will be scanned and a badge will be given to visitors. This process is key to continuing to maintain and improve a safe and caring environment for our students and staff. A visitor’s badge needs to be worn at all times while visiting the school.
