We are having our Fall Book Fair – Friday, October 18th - Friday, October 25th . The first chance to shop will be at our Early Bird Sale on Thursday, October 17th from 3:30-4:30. We will be open for Family Night Tuesday, October 22nd from 3:30-6:30. We will also be open on Thursday, October 24th from 7:30 AM-8:00 AM. Students must always be accompanied by an adult when shopping during special events.
Students will shop during the school day with their class during their library/computer time.
Parents, relatives, and friends are always invited to shop. If you are unable to shop with your
student this is a great time for our students show they are responsible Gators.
Please be sure that your student understands how much they can spend and what is
acceptable to purchase. If you would prefer not to send cash you can send a check made
payable to Greentree, and on the memo line write Book Fair. You may write it for the amount
you do not want your child to go over (For ex. $10) and if your child does not spend all of it we will give them change. Cash can't always be found if it is lost, so checks are always welcome.
Please BE SURE to include sales tax on your purchases. (ie. If your book is 4.99 then multiply
by 1.085 to get your total $5.40).
**Book Fair is a library fund raiser and we appreciate you supporting this event. Funds made from this event are used to purchase books and educational materials for our students and staff.

Trot-N-Treat
Trot N Treat is a family fun run that we do during the kids’ specials time. We invite our parents, grandparents and even our little brothers and sisters to come to school and run or walk our greenbelt trail that loops around through our parking lot. In each grade level, the classes compete to see which class has the most energy and endurance. After the run and the counting of the laps, a super trophy is presented to the class that has earned the most laps. They get to keep the trophy in their room until the next family fun run. We encourage all to come, except for your pets. We love animals at Greentree but the greenbelt is too crowded and the leashes are dangerous.
We will also need volunteers for the fun day. If you are unable to run or walk, we always need people to help us mark the pumpkins!
Please check in for the fun run in the back parking lot of the school.

4th grade 10:05-11:00

MOD Pizza Spirit Night
Tuesday, Oct 22, 2019, 10:30 AM
4537 Kingwood Drive, Kingwood, TX, USA
Parents:
Back to school brings lots of illness, anything from nasal congestion with sore throats to vomiting and strep throat. I have even had a few cases of the flu. Please remind your children to cover their mouths with their sleeves when coughing or sneezing. Getting lots of rest, exercise, and eating healthy helps them to stay well. Flu season will be soon approaching-consider the flu shot for your entire family!
Some other reminders for you:
Insect Repellent: Mosquitos are active in the early morning, especially after the rain. Please consider applying repellent at home before school. It may help reduce the amount of bites here at school and cut down on the number of classroom interruptions to visit the nurse for Calamine lotion.
Illness: Please keep your child home if she/he has had a fever (100 degrees or over), vomiting and/or diarrhea in the last 24 hours. Also, I’d like to know if your child has seen a doctor and been diagnosed with flu, strep throat or conjunctivitis (pink eye).
Medications: If your child will be taking any medication at school, prescription or over-the-counter, I must have a medication form completely filled out. Over the counter meds may be dispensed with only a parent signature if given on occasion. If this medication is needed more than 4 times a month or more than 10 days in a school year, a physician’s signature is required on the form. ALL medication must be sent in with an adult in the original store package or with a pharmacy label. The medication policy can be found on my website as well as the Humble ISD website.
Screenings: I have almost completed the 5th grade screening and will continue to screen grades 3, 1, and K in the upcoming weeks. If you have any concerns about your child’s vision or hearing, don’t hesitate to call me. If anyone is interested in helping with the screenings in clinic, please call me.
Feel free to contact me for any questions or concerns at 281-641-1905.

Dear Parents,
I have enjoyed meeting all our new students in our “new student” lunch groups and helping with a smooth transition to GTE. Our new Great 8 Skill of Self-Management will begin the week of October 21st!
Self-Management is a child's success in controlling his/her emotions and behaviors, especially in new and challenging situations.
Key Concepts:
*I can only control myself.
*My behavior is a choice based on my perceptions about what happens in the outside world.
*Emotions come and go, and I can recognize and manage them.
*My mind, body, and spirit work together.
*My brain can grow new pathways.
*Movement helps me manage my emotions.
