Monday Memo
USC Elementary -- You Matter - Every Child - Every Day
WELCOME BACK!!
Hello! I am excited to begin the new year and I hope you have all had opportunities to enjoy the summer and spend time rejuvenating with family and friends! I can't wait to hear about everyone's adventures.
Some of you have been in already trying to get a jump on the new year and some of you are taking advantage of every last minute you can before summer ends (I don't blame you one bit.) ;-)
Class lists are ever changing as we continue to get new families registering, so be patient with us if your class list changes yet again before the first day. We will try to update you as soon as we can.
Jackie will be gone Aug. 20-27 in Colorado for her son Nick's wedding!! We will do our best to help you if you need something from the office.
Remember that if you need something requiring custodial help in your classroom, please put in a work order request - if you try and ask them in the hallways, they will try to take care of it, but there is a high possibility that they might forget - they still have many other things to get ready before the kids arrive.
I look forward to seeing you all on Aug. 27th!! It's going to be a great year!!
~Tracey

Significant 72
I have attached some links to the benefits and ideas below. If you want to try this, I think it would be awesome and highly encourage it!!! I'd love to be invited in to your classroom to see it in progress and take pictures for the webpage/Facebook!!
In the second link, there are many ideas you can try with your class. Click on the link, and then when you are directed to the page you can click on the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner to connect to the post. There are lots of fun ideas!!
What is "Significant 72"?
The first three days of school (72 hours) are a crucial period in the development of student to teacher & student to student relationships. Since relationship building is a teacher's number one responsibility, all instructional time during the opening 3 days should be spent on accomplishing the following:
3 Goals/3 Days
1. Teachers learn about each student.
2. Students learn about their teacher.
3. Students learn about each other.
Good Read-Alouds!! This is a repeat post, but always worth another look.
Something To Make You Smile..... :-) Many of our spouses can relate.
