New Updates
Student Contact: Are you making regular contact with your students? Recently a survey went out to parents about what is working and not working with e-learning. The most common feedback is that families like and want as much Zoom time as possible . I've sat in on several of these and they have been so much fun. We've had show and tell, story time, pictionary and just sweet conversations. You can also discuss the week's work and do mini teaching lessons. Here are a few more ideas of fun things to do on your class zoom meetings:
- show and tell (let them know beforehand what to bring),
- Would You Rather (using fingers),
- Two Truths and a Lie, a dance party,
- Play hangman using the zoom whiteboard feature,
- Simon Says,
- Have a student read their favorite book to the class, etc.Using the screenshare option, you can pull up any video you would like to watch with them.
There are several classes that I'd still like to participate in. If you haven't yet, please let me know when you plan to meet with your class this week by sending me an email with the date, time and link to your Zoom. My goal is to get in with every class. Please continue to check in with every student every week either through email, zoom, phone or dojo. If you want to share additional resources, that's fine just don't make anything mandatory for students. Ex: share sight word activities and games, phonics websites, Brainpop activities, etc... Many parents are asking for supplemental items to work on with their children!
Class Placements: In May we will begin the class placement process. It will need to look different this year and I will share more information in a week or two. You can go ahead and start checking in with families to see if any of them are planning to move over the summer. Keep that information on hand for when we begin the class placement process. For the process you will need to know similar information like you did with the pink/blue sheets (504/ELL/SOS/IEP/MOY Guided Reading level/ and important considerations for placement). Please start thinking about those things now so when it comes time to work on this, you will be prepared.
Access to the buildings and guidelines to follow:
Badge access to your building will be available every Monday in April from 7:00AM - 7:00PM. Please contact me ahead of time if you have to come in. Please let me know no later than 5:00 PM the Sunday evening before so I can send a list to IT to turn badges on.
Upcoming Zooms
Because there isn't a lot of new information to share each week I'm deleting the bi-weekly grade level, classified and RA staff check in times. Instead, Jen, Molly and I will have Mondays from 11:30-12:30 reserved on our calendar where we will be on Zoom. Here is the link.

You are welcome to pop on to say HELLO, ask questions, share how things are going or whatever you need. Stay as long as you like or just pop in and out. If I have any important information that must be shared with staff, I'll email everyone ahead of time so you know to join us. Also, if there is any important information that needs only team discussion, I will schedule those separately, but at this point there isn't anything.
Covid Information for Families
As a reminder, there is a FAQ on the District Covid-19 section of the website that answers many questions- SEE LINKS BELOW. Please share these links with your families to remind them to look there for answers. Like Dr. Pettet said, please direct questions to me first, and then I will try to get answers for you if I don't know them.

FTCSC Hedgehog Focus
The Hedgehog Concept is based on an ancient Greek parable that states, "The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing." ... Hedgehogs, however, simplify the world and focus on a single, overarching vision, which they then achieve.
