Welcome Back TC Williams High School Staff!!!!
August, 2016
Dear Titan Family:
Welcome back! As we prepare to begin our new school year I would like you to reflect upon this quote from John Dewey: “If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.” What Mr. Dewey is saying is we cannot afford to do the same things we have always done and expect different results. Our students of today already have one foot firmly planted into tomorrow. How about us?
As we begin this new school year, we will continue to focus on strengthening our core relationships between parents, teachers, and our school community at-large. Again, we will not be satisfied with being “one” of the best high schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As we approach the beginning of this new school year my “vision” for us is to ensure the success of each and every student that walks into our doors. Our focus this year will be on ensuring student academic success through the lens of Multi Tier Systems of Support (MTSS). Based on our most recent SOL results, math will also be a priority focus for us this year as well. We will continue to emphasize appropriate student behavior as well as encouraging students to be present in school. Finally, we will strive to seek ways to close the achievement gap between our students of color, ELL, and SPED students.
Since I have arrived, I have observed first-hand that T.C. Williams High School is a caring community school staffed with sincere, dedicated professionals providing every child with every chance for success every day. It will be through your continued efforts, your dedication (labor of love), and your commitment that we will ensure that every student who graduates will leave college and career ready.
Below is the link to the schedule for the pre-service week. Please note, August 25th and 26th are not “flex days” this year. They are Teacher Workdays! There are no school based activities planned on these two days, thus you will have uninterrupted time in your rooms, or any meetings you may want to schedule. As you can see the week of August 29th is the beginning of our preparation for the work to be done this year. The 2016 schedule is designed to be interactive and engaging. As in previous years, the administrative team will be serving breakfast to you on the first day, so bring your appetite, stories to share about your summer and a ready smile!
Warmly,
Jesse Dingle, Principal
