Principals' Message

Hello Rockledge Families,

It is crazy to think that we are just one month away from the last day of school, June 15th. We have lot of fun planned and learning experiences to deploy over the next month. There are many upcoming events and updates noted below.

Rockledge has been designated as a Title I school, effective July 1st. This status is a part of the Federal Title I program that ensures resources are provided to schools that have demonstrated higher percentages of families in financial need. The intent is to ensure that resources are available to support the success of ALL children. To learn more about what the Title I program is, click here. We are excited by this designation as it will provided additional personnel, specifically a Math Resource Teacher to support student learning. We will also have the opportunity to plan for additional family engagement events to strengthen the Home-School connection.

Our Rockledge Staff wants to give a huge THANK YOU to the PTA and all families. Each of you played an important role in making sure our entire staff felt appreciated during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. It is an honor to serve the Rockledge Community.

Every Child...Every Day...We are Rockledge!

Your Principal & Assistant Principal,

Mrs. Steptoe-Coleman

Mrs. Everett

Popsicles, Playground, & Planning Family Event

Families, please join us on Wednesday, June 1st from 5-7pm. As we say farewell to one school year, we are busily preparing for an amazing year beginning this August, and we need YOUR help.

Come out to this event and give us your feedback on what areas of focus should be considered as we move into the new school year. We will have a short simple survey for you to complete, then your child will get a homework pass and popsicle for the evening. We are also hoping to have community representatives present to tell you about the many fun happenings around Prince William in the Summer.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Laptop Return, June 3rd

After June 3rd, students will no longer transport laptops back and forth to school on a daily basis. Please ensure that your child is returning the laptop, charging chord, and laptop case on a daily basis.

Crossing Guard Updates

Due to the milling and paving operations occurring in numerous locations in Lake Ridge, crossing guards are experiencing delays in arriving at their second crossings in the mornings and afternoons.

As always, the safety of the children who walk to and from school is our priority. If there is no crossing guard at your child’s crossing at the normal time, they are on the way. Any unaccompanied child should always wait for a crossing guard to arrive.
