From the Principal's Pen

May 13, 2022

Thank you to all of the Grandparents and special relatives that came to visit for Grandparent's Day today! Inviting the extended family that is such an important part of our students' lives into our school warmed our hearts! Our grandparents and special guardians play many roles from mentors to historians, to loving companions and sometimes child-care providers. It was a pleasure to welcome them into the school building!

We had an amazing number of JC Alum attend the event, as well as families that have sent multiple children and grandchildren to Julian Curtiss! Many have sent three generations of family through the hallways of our school building.

A very special Thank You to Kristen Hennigan for planning and organizing this event. Thank you to all of our PTA members that came out to help cook, serve and greet our guests!

Academic Curriculum Team visits grades K-2 at Julian Curtiss

The Academic Coordinator Team conducted an academic walkthrough visit at JC on Wednesday, May 11th. from 9:00 - 11:00 AM for grades K-2. The goal of these visits is to better understand the professional learning and curricular needs of our teachers and students to inform our summer work.

The team had an opportunity to see Humanities and STEM Blocks. They got a good look at science and math, as well as, reading and writing.

Our JC scholars impressed the team in many ways!!

The Julian Curtiss PTA needs your help next year!

Julian Curtiss would not be the successful school it is without the help of the PTA. Events such as Grandparents Day today help to build a real sense of community at our school. The PTA offers numerous enrichment activities all year long that supplement and enhance the academic curriculum. Our students benefit from the hard work of our PTA!

Tidbits from the Library Learning Commons

Friday, June 3: Last day for student book checkout

Monday, June 20: iPad collection begins (except for summer school attendees)

We would encourage you to please start looking for any books from the LLC in your classroom libraries as they have a tendency to sneak in there once in a while. We will be printing out weekly overdue notices in effort to collect books from our students and also, have an accurate inventory of our materials.

Many thanks for your continued support,
Esra, Arlene & Anna

Car Pick Up

at dismissal

The front circle is restricted to buses from 2:45 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Cars are NOT allowed in the front circle during dismissal/pick-up. Drivers should park outside the school and park or enter the Milbank driveway only.

  • Car riders in grades 1-5 will be picked up on the gymnasium side of the building. There is no parking or standing. Vehicles must keep moving around the loop until their child is available for pick-up.

  • We ask ALL cars to pull up to the cross walk in front of the field at 2:40 pm. There is no reason to wait in the circle below. Students are dismissed at 2:45.

  • Cars should stay in line and there is NO Passing for safety reasons.

IF there is a planned change in pick-up for your child, you must enter it in School Dismissal Manager by 1:45 pm. Students will not be dismissed to an alternate party without written authorization from a parent/guardian.

For parents and guests of the school, parking is available in the upper level of the back parking lot, along the east side of driveway. Please note that cars parked in the 5 spaces immediately in front of the school in the afternoon will not be able to move until buses have departed. There is NO PARKING along the entire north (field side), along the entire south part of the driveway from Milbank to the Teacher’s lot and anywhere there is a NO PARKING sign.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with these very important matters.
