What really happened...

What really happened is that the British taxed the colonist. But the colonist had no say in if they wanted the law to be passed or not, so they decided to rebel against the king of Britain and started the Revolutionary War. “Great Britain was passing these laws because of the French and Indian War. That war left Great Britain with a huge debt that had to be paid. Parliament said it had fought the long and costly war to protect its American subjects from the powerful French in Canada. Parliament said it was right to tax the American colonists to help pay the bills for the war.” Revolutionary War.

What caused it...

The caused the war is that the British taxed the colonist without the colonist approving of the law. The colonist didn’t like it at all and asked Britain to stop. Parliament thought that since they had protected them and fought the war to protect them. That they could tax them for it. To add to that they couldn't settle in the new land that they had just fought for. The colonist didn't like that at all. “In order to pay off his debt, he imposed taxes on the colonies without their consent.”Causes of the American Revolution.

The effects it had...

The colonist decided to rebel against the king. They decided that if they didn’t get a say they just wouldn’t be there. They created a group of leaders and after a while they decided to declare independence. The king did not like that at all. They had a war on their hands and that war became known as the Revolutionary War. “The rebels were waging a full-scale war for their independence.” American Revolution History - American Revolution ...

What would have happened...

What would have happened if the British didn’t tax us after the French and indian war then we wouldn’t have had to start the Revolutionary war with British. Then we might still be with the british because they wouldn’t have made us not like them after all. There wouldn’t be any reason to try and rebel on the british since they aren’t taking us. “In the beginning, the colonies were proud to be British.”Causes of the American Revolution.

What might happen(short term)...

There wouldn’t have been a revolutionary war between the colonist and the British. They would have been no boston massacre, no boston tea party, no declaring for independence none of that. We would just still be happy with the British and would still be part of them later. “We would still be part of the British.”What If America Had Lost the Revolutionary War? - The …

What might happen(long term)...

In the long run we might have still been with British. There probably wouldn’t be a United States of America. We would just be part of Great Britain. Then we wouldn’t have had George Washington as are first president. “We would probably still be part of the British colony.”What If America Had Lost the Revolutionary War? - The ...

My opinion on what I thought should have happend...

I would prefer that history happen the way it happened because I like are country how it is and I wouldn’t want to be with Britain. You never know how much that it could have changed history. We might not have the freedoms that we have today. So that’s why I think that history should have played out like it did.
