Caine's Arcade
Let's get ready to play some educational games! Sixth grade will be holding an arcade again this year. Here are a few changes from last year: no money needed; students will receive tickets and use them to enter in raffle prizes. Your child should walk away learning something that sixth graders learned this year.
Take a look at the video below to see where the inspiration for this day came!
Classroom Supplies
As we are working hard in 5th grade, we've noticed that a few of our school supplies have been dwindling. If you would like to help our house out and donate more supplies, we would greatly appreciate it. Here are the supplies that we are in need of:
- Pencils
- Dry erase markers
- Pens (not erasable)
- Clorox wipes
Reading
Math
Students took their final quiz and test for this year in math!!! Please check your child's math take home folder for both of these assessments.(Block 1 will get it Tuesday.) If your child received a grade lower than a 3 on their test, they are encouraged and some are required to complete a make-up assessment. This will take place on June 1st during both recesses. Please take a look at the Unit 8 website for more resources for your child to practice finding the volume of rectilinear figures to prep for this alternative assessment.
This week the students became the teachers. I am so impressed at how prepared each group was for their lesson! We have some future teachers in our classes! These student taught lessons will continue next week. Take a look at the schedule below.
Here is the schedule for each lesson:(this could vary among blocks)

Science
Did you know that about 80% of the Earth's surface is water, and only 1% of this is suitable for drinking? Our last science unit will focus on Earth's water systems. During this unit, students will gain an understanding of how the water cycle work by creating models of groundwater, pie charts of water distribution and, water cycle posters. The test for this unit will be the last week of school. Here is a link to the study guide to help your child prepare for this assessment.
