Evil Project

Evil is when someone is cruel or harmful
My definition is related to the three stories because there was some type of evil in all of the stories. For example in The Lottery everybody threw stones at the people that were picked.
What A Thought
Margaret sits with her husband and is seized by an urge to bash her husband's head in with an heavy ashtray. She is disturbed by this thought and doesn't understand where it is coming from. He husband appears friendly and asks her what she would to do for the evening. Part of her mind tries to convince her not to do it while the inexplicable urge continues to push her. She soon ponders different ways of doing it and her husband begins to see something is wrong with her. He asks if she is ok, but she assures him, she's fine. As they converse about what to do, darker and darker thoughts continue to overpower her until finally, she picks up the ashtray and smashes it down.
The Lottery
“The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson opens on what can be described as an idyllic scene in a small village with green grass, budding flowers, and polite small town folks gathering in the town square. From this early point in the plot of “The Lottery” it would seem to the uninformed reader that we are about to encounter a happy story, perhaps about someone about to win some great prize. There are clues, also called foreshadowing, contained in this early part of “The Lottery” that stain the image of small town perfection we’re being asked to envision. For instance, we notice that there is a careful gathering of stones into a pile that the adult men, who are polite but we begin to notice, a bit restrained, wish to keep their distance from. It is clear from this point in the plot of “The Lottery” that the stones are the markers of something that reminds of them of a negative experience or event.
The Possibility of Evil
The story's plot revolves around Miss Strangeworth and her day-to-day life.
The text reveals her thoughts and emotions Point of View Atmosphere The short story, The Possibility of Evil by Shirley Jackson shows that evil lurks beneath even the most charming and unexpected exterior. This is illustrated through design elements such as symbols, atmosphere, irony and conflict. Many desire a relationship with a person of good intentions and a pure heart, although, these partnerships never seem to last as one person always brings an ill-fated ending. The story, The Possibility of Evil, discusses the life of Miss Adela Strangeworth
