PLEASE VOTE FOR GES'S MISS BIRKBECK!
Please vote for Council Rock’s very own Nikki Birkbeck in the Bucks Happening List 2024
Please vote for Council Rock’s very own Miss Nikki Birkbeck in the Bucks Happening List 2024: teacher. Miss Birkbeck has spent 9 of her 11 years teaching in Council Rock at Goodnoe Elementary, where she taught grades K, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th. She was a chorus director and active participant in the community. Last year Council Rock saw Miss Birkbeck in her new role as Elementary STEAM teacher at Holland Elementary School and Richboro Elementary School. This year, Miss Nikki Birkbeck continues to enrich our elementary students in the field of STEAM as an Elementary STEAM teacher at Newtown Elementary School and Goodnoe Elementary School. Miss Birkbeck adores her Council Rock, so let's show her we see her passion and dedication to our students by voting for her as Bucks Happening 2024 teacher! Please click this link to vote. Be sure to click “Miss Nikki Birkbeck” and follow the email verification process to have your vote count.
CONGRATULATIONS ROCKY WINNERS!
Each day at school, a Rocky’s Wall of Fame sticker is given to at least 10 different students when recognized for meeting expectations for being Respectful, Responsible, and/or Safe. When students receive a Rocky’s Wall of Fame sticker, they are called at the end of the day to the board outside the office to select a randomly numbered star. Their name is then written on that star and placed on the board in the numbered space that corresponds with the number on the star. When 10 stars line up in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally), the ten students whose stars are in that row win a reward. The board is then cleared and we begin filling it again. We were super excited to hit a few different rows of 10 stars this week! Congratulations to those winning students! We continue to be proud of so many students who make good choices!
Congratulations to the following students:

FEBRUARY IS KINDNESS MONTH
During the month of February we will be celebrating kindness month at school. While we expect students to treat each other with kindness every day, we are focusing on raising awareness of kind behavior this month. We are encouraging students to perform random acts of kindness each day in school, and I am including a calendar for the month of February with suggestions for random acts of kindness at home as well. We will have school wide activities on February 15, for Random Acts of Kindness Day. On this day we will have students watch a video from the Kid President and discuss 20 things we should say more often:
If you would like to view the video, it can be found here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5yCOSHeYn4
We hope that you will join us in encouraging kindness at school and at home!
REGISTRATION FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
Registration is now open for enrolling any NEW students for next school year. If your child is already attending GES, there is nothing you need to do.
Online Registration: The Council Rock School District utilizes a secure online portal for a parent(s) to enroll their child(ren). Please ensure you have all required documents ready before starting the enrollment process below. The application functions best in the Chrome browser on a desktop or laptop.
Your child is NOT registered until all documents have been received, reviewed by central registration, and the final registration document has been signed by the parent.
100TH DAY OF SCHOOL - FEBRUARY 9TH
GES will be celebrating the 100th Day of School on Friday, February 9th! Students are invited to decorate a 100th Day shirt or wear GES spirit wear! Classrooms will be celebrating this special day with various activities!
PLANNING - VALENTINE'S DAY
It's the time of the school year when children pick out Valentine's cards to distribute to their classmates. As you select cards, please try to pick cards that do not have a candy treat. The students will be having treats at their classroom parties. If students do receive candy with their cards from their classmates, the items will be sent home to be enjoyed.
VALENTINE'S DAY CLASSROOM PARTIES - 2/14
Valentine’s Day parties will be held in the classrooms on Wednesday, February 14th. Homeroom teachers have selected the time of their parties and will communicate plans with families. Please contact your Homeroom teacher, directly, with questions. The office staff would not be able to answer specific questions that you may have regarding your child’s party.
RECESS - COLD WEATHER
Cold temperatures are back! With the colder temperature, please be sure your child has dressed appropriately for outside weather. Unless the weather is extreme (rain or excessive cold, 22 degrees or below), children will have recess outside.

GOODNOE ELEMENTARY MATH CHALLENGE 2023-2024
We are halfway through the school year, and we are halfway through the Goodnoe Elementary Math Challenge. If you have not participated in the GES Math Challenge yet, it is not too late to start. All students in grades K to 6 are invited to participate in this bi-weekly math problem solving activity. This is a great opportunity for families to be involved and enjoy math through fun and engaging math problems. Parents and siblings are encouraged to get involved in discussing and solving the problems. Please submit solutions and student work to each Math Challenge by the Wednesday due date listed. Click the link for more information about how to participate https://www.mathinaction.org/goodnoe-elementary.html. Mrs. Gudusky will keep track of student submissions throughout the year. Students who submit entries on time are awarded a star on the bulletin board. Also, there will be another prize drawing after Math Challenge 10. Recognition will be given at the end of the school year for those who regularly participate. More importantly, students' problem-solving abilities will grow! Questions? Please contact Mrs. Gudusky, Goodnoe Elementary math specialist, at kristin.sink@crsd.org.

MUSIC AND P.E. CLASS TEAM UP
This week the Music and Physical Education classes teamed up and put their dancing shoes on to move and groove to the beat. We mixed it up with some timeless classics like the Hokey Pokey, the Chicken Dance and the Bunny Hop while also getting down with current favorites like the Cha-Cha Slide, the Cupid Shuffle, and the Cotton-Eye Joe. We worked up a sweat and had a great time in the process.

NO DOGS/PETS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
When escorting students to and from school, please do not bring pets on school grounds or into the school building. Many of our children have pet allergies or are afraid of animals; therefore, the presence of animals in school or on school grounds is prohibited. Some classes at Goodnoe Elementary School do participate in the Nor’Wester Reading Dogs program, so on occasion you may see dogs visiting. These dogs are specially trained and licensed to work in the schools with students. No other animals are permitted on school property during school hours. Please refer to our board policy for more information on animals in school policy 718 https://go.boarddocs.com/pa/coun/Board.nsf/vpublic?open#

A few parents reached out last year about this date, so I wanted to communicate the plan in advance as it pertained to TYCTW day.
