The Carleton Chronicle
A weekly update from Carleton Middle School
Keep on keepin' on
This week, I sent a short message to the staff at Carleton about continuing to learn about our students in the closing days in the school year. As educators, we often take a strong interest to learn the many nuances in our students at the beginning of the school year or at semester time when classes change. However, my message to staff encouraged them to find out what motivates our learners, what interests do they have, what are their summer plans, and more. I would encourage all of you to continue to "keep on keepin' on" as well and ask questions of your son or daughter.
Some suggestions that might start a conversation are below. We hope that you can learn a little bit more about your child as a student with some of these questions.
-What was your favorite class today?
-What questions did you ask today?
-What exam are you most/least prepared for?
-What is your biggest concern about going into the next grade?
-What are you going to miss most about school during summer vacation? (Don't accept nothing for an answer!)
-What class/teacher are you really hoping to get next year?
-What subject area did you grow the most in?
-What did you learn about yourself as a student this year?
We hope you make it a priority to talk with your child over the weekend and please remember to encourage them to #FinishStrong as there is teaching and learning still occurring in the hallways and classrooms in Carleton.
