Ohio State Testing
Ohio's State Testing - Nov. 29 - Dec. 10
Ohio’s State Tests will be administered Nov. 29-Dec. 10. A letter will be given to your student during Crew the week of November 15 if your student needs to test. This administration is for students who did not take the test in the spring or students who did not achieve a proficient score. Students can prepare for the tests by going to bit.ly/AIR-resources to take practice tests. Students not taking the Ohio State Tests will follow a regular schedule. Students who miss a class for testing will be given the opportunity to make up any missed classwork and assignments.
Countdown to the end of the semester... We have 14 days to go!!
Fall Semester Finals
Teachers will notify students of finals expectations for their courses. Sometimes these are tests, sometimes they are papers, projects, or presentations. Please do what you can to encourage your student to give their best on these important assessments.
Internet Connection/Hotspot Survey
We are required by the Department of Education to report on student access to the internet. The following survey will help us fulfill that requirement and will allow us to anticipate and support student needs for equitable access to the internet. The National School Lunch Program forms (free & reduced) that are a part of the enrollment process are an essential part of our school funding especially for student technology. This is why you will see questions related to those forms. If you have not filled out these forms yet please do as soon as possible, the answers are strictly confidential.
Mask to Stay
We are also pleased to share that the number of The Charles School community members who have had to quarantine or isolate due to COVID has decreased significantly. We continue to work hard to make our school a safe & healthy community and it is clear that our efforts have been successful.
We want to share that a new recommendation was released this week by the Ohio Department of Health (“Mask to Stay”) which states that groups of students do not need to quarantine if the individual had direct contact with a positive case of COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, if they have been consistently following mask guidelines while at school and continue to wear a mask for 14 days after their last day of exposure.
Therefore, for future cases of community members testing positive, if we need to consider quarantining, TCS will only require students to quarantine if they do not follow the school's mask wearing expectations consistently.
If you have any questions, contact The Charles School at (614) 258-8588 or the Columbus Public Health at (614) 645-7417. Thank you for helping to keep our community safe and to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and school. For answers to your COVID-19 questions, call 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833-427-5634) or visit coronavirus.ohio.gov.
