Message from your Proud Principal
Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday and rang in the New Year with those you love. For me, I was definitely with those I love...my Georgia Bulldogs! If you're a Georgia fan, you know what I am talking about. Winning the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl by one point, at the stroke of midnight, surely set up the New Year. It also allowed the Georgia Bulldogs to advance to the SEC Championship which will take place on Monday, January 9th. Go DAWGS! If you are a family of Dawg fans, we will be wearing our Black and Red to school on Monday. If you are not a Dawgs fan, well, we want your child to represent their college also. Let's have some fun and support the amazing institutions that provide secondary education to our students (AND amazing football!).
AKS At Home
As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiative, the school district seeks to empower parents with tools that allow them to help their children at home. Our AKS at Home project provides math and language arts resources to support families of children in grades K-5 so that they truly are partners in their children’s learning. This support is available for families to access in the format that suits them and their schedule best. They can attend live virtual meetings, view recorded information, and gain tools and suggestions on how to best help their children through tip sheets on a wide variety of topics. Click the link for more information. https://www.gcpsk12.org/domain/13286
Restorative Practices
Restorative practices promote a positive and safe school environment. Students and all members of the school community learn and practice self-discipline, empathy, and accountability with strategies that promote trust, inclusiveness, positive relationships, and problem-solving skills. Restorative practices are leveraged through methods such as circles, a practice that allows all parties of an incident to be heard and to process consequences of actions, conflict resolution and reflective conferences and conversations aimed at helping students become more self-awareness and personally responsible. Restorative practices allow individuals to take full responsibility for their behavior by supporting their understanding and acknowledgement of the impact their behavior on others, how to work towards repairing relationships, rebuilding trust, and making more responsible decisions in the future. Restorative practices and SEL strategies work together to teach and address behavior expectations and provide appropriate tiered interventions. Be sure to take a look at this short video on Restorative Practices and how GCPS will use these practices to support student success.
Report Cards
Semester 1 Report Cards will be mailed beginning Tuesday, January 17th. You will also be able to view the electronic copy of the report card in the Parent Portal. To access the document, select ParentVue, and then click on the Documents tab.

Peachtree Ridge CARE Closet
We have a variety of shelf-stable pantry items, hygiene products, and some clothing available. We will also have 5 produce boxes available for pick-up before Winter Break. Families are welcome to shop the CARE Closet, or we can prepare bags for them. Our office is happy to have these ready for pick-up or drop-off at a family's residence or a discrete location.

Does your child need help with a subject at school?
In partnership with the Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL), GCPS provides Tutor.com as an online tutoring resource for students. The expert tutors at Tutor.com can help your student work through a tough homework problem, improve writing skills, study for a test, review a difficult concept, and so much more! Live tutoring support is available daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. In addition, students can receive “drop-off support,” 24-7, by uploading a document for tutor feedback that will be reviewed and returned at a later time. To learn more about how to access this resource and what is offered, click here.
