HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 3 Week 2 Friday 30 July
FROM MARK
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Here we are - another great week! Congratulations every one of our children who participated in the interschool cross country on Tuesday. Some truly great performances were in evidence!
Thank you so much to the Year Five gang whose assembly today was exceptionally good fun! You are an amazing group! To Ash and Lachie, thank you for having your children in such good form! Many children also received class and Making Jesus Real awards, and we congratulate them and thank them for the wonderful example they set for all of our children.
On Friday of next week we have planned a School Mass, attended by our children from Preprimary to Year Six. This will be the first school mass in something like 18 months and is a very special opportunity to worship together. Please come and join us!
Art Show, 2-4pm Sunday in the gym. It will be fabulous! Hope to see you there!
Have a great weekend

OUR CODE OF CONDUCT
A reminder that every member of our Holy Rosary community must behave in the manner described in our Code of Conduct.
Our Code is like the 40km/h speed limit outside our school in the mornings and afternoons. It defines behaviours that keep our students safe: at school, and elsewhere. Children and young people surrounded by adult and peer behaviours described in the Code are more likely to recognise and choose healthy relationships for themselves.
We each keep our students safe by following our Code of Conduct, and encouraging and reminding each other to do so.
For Staff, our Code of Conduct is a lawful direction and forms part of their employment agreement.
For parents, compliance is a condition of your entry to school premises.
See below for Code of Conduct Guidelines.
Term's notice for withdrawals - Pre-Kindy to Year 5
To assist us with planning for next year, please advise the office (admin@hrs.wa.edu.au) if your child is not returning to Holy Rosary next year (if you haven’t already done so). Families are obliged to provide at least one term’s notice in writing of their intention to remove a child from the school, otherwise a full term’s fees may be charged. For children leaving the school, please indicate which school they will be attending next year.

UN WORLD DAY AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS
Today, Friday 30th July, is UN World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
Modern slavery is a real and present social reality here in Western Australia. The video below briefly looks at modern slavery in the supply chains that are used to bring the goods and services we enjoy to our front door.
BRIGHTPATH EXPERIENCE - FRIDAY 23 JULY
CPSSA CROSS COUNTRY
On the 27th of July Holy Rosary participated in the CPSSA Interschool Cross Country Carnival at UWA Sports Park. The weather was windy and damp at the start of the day but that did not dampen the spirits in the squad.
We were incredibly proud of the team giving 110% in every single race. There were some amazing runs on the day lead by our superstar Year 6 team that dominated their races. Holy Rosary finished 2nd overall on the day out of 16 schools a number of them much bigger schools it was such a brilliant effort.
I would like to thank Mrs Catherall for all her efforts in the lead up to the event and on the day. Everyone loves your expert coaching and your enthusiasm. You are such an important part of the team so a heartfelt thank you from us all
I was also so proud of the team spirit we displayed on the day and your dancing efforts to the Y.M.C.A song will not be forgotten.
We will now turn our attention to the Primary Schools Cross Country Championships on August 12 at UWA Sports Park. All our runners are welcome to attend. The distances for this event are listed below if any parents feel that they would rather their son or daughter not compete due to the increased distances please email me this week through admin and let me know.
TEACHER GET TO KNOW YOU - MIKE THACKER
Who was your favourite teacher in school and why?
Pressure is on here as I have a feeling some of my old teachers might be reading this! I had some amazing teachers all through primary school but Years 6 & 7 top the list.
Is there anything you wished would come back into fashion?
Surely I’m not old enough to answer this! Wouldn’t mind being able to get the Crocs back out?
What’s your favourite family tradition?
Christmas Day as a family is always hard to beat. Don’t mind myself some Banoffee pie.
Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
Great question! I think Chris Hemsworth would do a pretty decent job although massive DiCaprio fan!
What’s your favourite zoo animal?
Tiger, Cheetah, Lion!
What was the last book you read?
The Barefoot Investor! Time to start sorting my life out…
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Would absolutely love a day in the sunshine overlooking Dubrovnik pretending I was on the set of Game of Thrones.
If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?
Time travel or ability to fly
