FHS Represented at HOBY
Each year California high schools are allowed to select one student to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference. This year the southern section conference will be held at Chapman University in June. The staff at Foothill High School nominated an amazing group of sophomore students and this year’s selection went to Mary Norman. Congratulations to all the nominees and to Mary for representing Foothill High School at HOBY.

Hall finished with the county’s top time in the girls individual sweepstakes at the Mt. SAC Invitational. The senior finished 10th with a time of 17:55, her third sub-18-minute time this season. It was a 42-second improvement on her time at the event last season.

English Department News
FHS English Department members attended District Professional Development on Monday, October 30. One of the highlights of the day was Foothill's own Mr. Josh Hermanson, presenting a session called "Listening & Speaking: The Forgotten Strand." Mr. Hermanson stressed the importance of including listening and speaking skills in high school classrooms, citing writer Susan Cain, who calls verbal fluency and sociability "the two most important predictors of professional success.”

ASB Sponsors Canned Food Drive
Thursday, Nov. 2nd - Canned Food Drive Begins
ASB is sponsoring our annual Canned-Food Drive to support families in need during this holiday season. Especially with the disasters in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, it would be great if everyone can help donate canned food in their classes to help our friends in the affected areas. The drive will conclude Wednesday, Nov. 15th. More information will be coming out in a separate email about drop off and pick up of barrels/boxes.

PJ is a sousa phone musician in marching/concert band. Kaz, PJ's twin brother, has different interests and is on the varsity wrestling team.
Their scouting journey began in 1st grade and with much work, perseverance and dedication they have earned the rank of Eagle Scout!

Veterans Day Band Concert
On Tuesday, November 7th please come out and enjoy patriotic music presented by Foothill’s Instrumental Music Program as they honor and celebrate our veterans. The concert is free and will start at 7 pm in the Foothill High School gymnasium.
Orchestra Fall Concert
On Wednesday, November 8th please join us as the Foothill Orchestra presents its free Fall Concert in the Little Theater beginning at 7 pm.
