"Garden in Winter" by the Middle School

Middle schools students will be collecting winter items such as gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves to distribute around Frederick for those in need.

Please consider donating items for their 'garden'; items need to be adult sizes. This work is inspired by Blessings in a Backpack's work to take care of those in need in our area and other random acts of kindness.

MVMPCS's nominee for the student who exemplies characteristics of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is Nikera Means. On a daily basis, she demonstrates strength in the face of obstacles, courage in the face of challenges, grace under pressure, and a sense of self and maturity that is beyond her years.

National School Choice Week- January 24-30

Held every January, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child.

The goal of National School Choice Week (NSCW) is to raise public awareness of all types of education options for children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.

To meet this goal, NSCW encourages schools, organizations, and individuals to hold positive events that celebrate school choice options, while drawing attention to the need for even greater opportunities for children.

Started in 2011, NSCW has grown into the world’s largest celebration of opportunity in education. The Week is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort. We welcome all Americans to get involved and to have their voices heard!
