Preston Hollow teacher named Outstanding Educator of the Year

Leanne Woods, a special education teacher here, earned the 2014 Outstanding Educator of the Year Award presented by the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas.


Woods' nomination was submitted last year in August. Her consideration for the award began with one of her student's parent nominating her. Then, more parents and administrators provided recommendation letters directly to the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas by August 2014.


To be considered for the award, educators should have a sincere interest in educating all children in an inclusive setting. Experience, education, professional and community involvement, and teaching philosophy are all criteria that the Down Syndrome Guild considered prior to making their decision.

  • Flu shots for employees will be given on Oct. 12 from 7:45 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. Employees must sign up up online. Please check email sent out earlier this month.
