Principal's Message
Dear Fammatre Families,
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! It is safe to say that the school year is not starting the way most of us hoped. All Cambrian Schools will start on August 19th with 100% distance learning for all students, and slowly transition in stages to a hybrid of in-person instruction and distance learning when approved to do so. While I wish we were able to safely welcome every child back to Fammatre in person, I am confident in our staff’s ability to make connections, deliver quality instruction, and build classroom communities through distance learning.
I know you are all eager to learn more about what school will look like. On Monday, August 17, I will be sending a welcome back video and presentation after 5 pm with more details about the distance learning plan and schedule. In the meantime, below is a brief rundown of some of the important dates and information you will need to know to help ensure a smooth start to the school year.
Friday, 8/14:
- All student numbers and important information will be emailed out to families, no later 3 pm
Monday, 8/17:
- TK - 5th graders: Teacher Assignments will be posted on the Famamtre website https://www.cambriansd.org/fammatre after 5 pm. You will use your child's student number to look up their class placement.
Tuesday, 8/18:
- Welcome letter from your child's teacher will be emailed to you by 3:30pm with the Zoom meeting links, login information and a schedule for the first two days of school.
Wednesday, 8/19: First Day of School
- 8:15 am start time for all TK - 5th graders, this is a synchronous learning day meaning students will have live interaction with their teachers at various times throughout the instructional day. Please note we flipped the Wednesday and Friday schedules this week only for the first day of school. Starting the week of August 24, Wednesdays will be the weekly Asynchronous Learning Day.
- Welcome New Families Zoom Meet & Greet - 4:30-5:30 pm: please RSVP here and the zoom link for the meeting will be emailed to those who RSVP by 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 19th. This is an informal opportunity to chat with me and our Home and School Club President, Denise Fulton, to learn about Fammatre and the amazing programs and opportunities we provide to students.
Friday, 8/21:
- Asynchronous Learning Day: Students will check in with their teacher via Zoom at 8:15-8:30 and then the remainder of the day is an independent distance learning for all students with a morning teacher check-in at 8:15.

All of the teachers and staff here at Fammatre are eagerly awaiting meeting their students. They have been working tremendously hard over the summer learning new skills and planning out innovative ways to ensure all of our students have access to a high quality
